The Fex in my army is basically going to be used as a walking gunboat. I know I definately want to give him a VC, but I dont know what other wep to give him. I was thinking of a barbed strangler, but I was wondering what you guys have used to success on your fexes. Thanks for the time
I think the barbed strangler/venom cannon combo is the best. It gives the fex good versatility against different types of targets. Against tanks you have three high strength shots and against lightly armored troops you can do good damage too. I usually field two of these in most games. Hope this helps.

For long range support the VC/BS combo is the best you can have, it can deal with large numbers of troops ( barbed strangler ), open-topped end medium armoured vehicles ( both VC and BS ) and even pose a threat to heavily armoured vehicles ( venom cannon ).
I use such a fex myself and it's definelty worth it's points.
I concur with the others. I try to play two 188 point fexes. Each with VC, BS, increased balistic skill, 2+ armor save, and reinforced chitin for the extra wound...if that doesn't add up I got something else, but those are the memoriable biomorphs. And it rips things to peices...However I have not had to face anything that was armor 14 yet (except the ignorable monolith) so I don't have the most experience, however I don't think it gets any better than these guys (for the same points as 3 zoans they are worth it as they tend to last longer and kill more, and there really isn't another option for skimmer hunting)
The 188 Gun fex has the following: Venom Cannon, Barbed Strangler, Extended Carapace, Enhanced Senses, Reinforced Chitin. I also use two of these(brother and sister fex) and they are a force to be reckoned with. Think about it: 10 wounds, 2+save, toughness 6. Able to crack off 1 str 8 shot and two strength 10 shots a turn. Granted against the monolith or land raider, you can only hope to glance either way, there is still a one in six chance of destroying it, not to mention I believe 50% chance of stopping its guns for atleast one turn. That pays in itself. In one turn, back to back, my brother and sister fex combo destroyed two of my opponents Hammerheads. That was the end of his heavy weapons for the game and this happened in turn two.
On the downside, its a 50% chance to hit either way. The barbed strangler is good as well for that troop suppression. Just kill one guy in the squad and have them fail the leadership test for pinning. Then a whole squad of marines, eldar, sisters, whatever, cant move or shoot for one turn. How great is that. All at 36" range so you are almost always getting a turn one shot.
