Welcome to Librarium Online!
So its basically ba Tau force but all the models are Kroot heads painted in jungle cameo.
The premise is that a band of Kroot Mercs evolve into a pseudo Tau force adopting some of their technology. To this end its rather simple weaponry. The FireWarriors have mandatory backpacks abnd shoulder pads of the FW although they are kroot models and every suit has a kroot head. I play it like a Kroot merc force with tau backup rather than the other way around but I use Tau codex rules.
What do you think?
1 converted kroot shasel commander with 2 bodyguards armed with tl bursts/missiles
3 converted kroot crisis suits with tl burst/missiles
12 converted fire warriors w/pulse
5x 12 kroot carniviores w/rifles
8 gun drones
2 converted kroot broadsides with rail guns and missiles
First of all, please proofread your posts. It took me a few reads to even figure out what you were saying but I still have a hard time figuring out what exactly you are trying to to explaining? They're Kroot but they're Fire Warriors? I'm confused.
Secondly, besides the obvious conversion fun, why would you want to do this?
Record as of 26 December for my Static Tau Cadre.
10 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw.
Last game: Victory over Necron in a 600 point "kill em all" that lasted til turn 10 ending with a phase out.
I did not think the concept was that difficult to understand. I want to use primarily Kroot models. However, you need a unit of Fire Warriors if you are following the Tau codex. Hence convert the Kroot to Fire Warriors with all the extra bits.
Why do it? Because I have already seven armies and io just traded for a lot of Kroot and want to use the few suits that have been lying around forever. I've never played Tau just against Tau. My best friend pretty much swears by them and i thought i would twist it up a bit and see what evolved.
I pretty much avoid standard armies. My main armies are DW, Feral Orcs and LatD. Sitting around after ten plus years are LotD, 13th Company, TK Sons, DE and Harlequins ( my first force when they were still legal). These just accumulated over the years and all of them are heavily converted - some from previous armies. This is just my latest project.
Now although i'm not a newb, i'm a newb to Tau and thought you kind fellows might help a bit with ideas. Clear enough now?
Seen it. Actually there are a few new and better lists about and since all of them are experimental and require opponents permission I generally go with 40k online's codex. I think most Harlie players do. That said, Harlies have been emasculated and I almost never bring them out unless someone requests to play against them. I've been trying to trade them for over two years! I have the same problem with my old and beautifully painted Legion of the Damned. Another set of rules that require opponent's permission unless you opt to go for a trait army out of the SM codex. Such pretty flames! Can't seem to trade them either!
On the bright side I did get to trade for the Kroots.
I thought Legion of the Damned was official?
that would be cool to have a kroot-tau force. to evolve into tau-like forms though, a shaper would have had to have eaten a tau. maybe you could model shapers devouring an ethereal. that would be cooooool:ninja:
I see where you get that notion of the kroot having to consume a tau for it to take on its traits and evolve but as they are allies this would highly be unlikely and if this did happen though lets say and the tau found out they would exterminate the kroot or at least the tribe for defiling an etherael as you should might happen to explain this eveloution. Remember the etheraels are like royalty amongst the tau society and are leaders who command great respect for the kroots to do this would be like signing thier death warrents. I agree though it could make for a interesting model none the less.
well, the tau don't know everything that the kroot do. like in the codex, it talks about wounded kroot coming in on warspheres and how the tau haven't used the kroot to fight with lately. so maybe there's a rogue tribe of kroot that fought with an enemy of the greater good as mercenaries. the whole cadre might have been wiped out and the shaper of the tribe devoured a ethereal alive. i can just picture it happening:yes:
