I'm coming of necrons looking to play as a non-meq army, and was just wondering, is an almost exclusivly burna/schorcha equiped army viable? Of course, i realize that some anti-tank will be needed but will the lack of longer ranged weapons (big shootas) cripple me?
You sure can, burnaboyz, equipping your sluggaboyz with 3 burna's, skarboyz with 3 burna's, easily go that way as they are very good in cc with those.
If long range bothers you thank certainly get some heavy hitters like a looted tank.
Like a Hellhound? ^_^If long range bothers you thank certainly get some heavy hitters like a looted tank.
Lots of Ork players use 1 unit of burna boys with 4 burnas as a standard unit, you can give the mekboy leading that unit a burna also that makes 5. Vs tanks that's great if you can charge them since its all 2D6 pentration.
I usually stick with 1 squad mounted in a truck (speed freaks) specifically for tank hunting/nid hunting as flamers.
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
Yeah, remember hat 2d6 penetration roll. Burnas can be rather nasty against tanks. So I would say it's quite viable. Although I do like to mix it up a bit, i have more flamers than anything else in my army.
