    My Gaunts and Hormies

    Hey everybody,

Decided to build my gaunts today but not sure how I should do it...

I remember spinegaunts used to be popular around here last edition, but I'm not sure if they're still good or not.

Can you guys make any recommendations for how you like your gaunts and hormies?

In case this matters: I'm going to be playing mostly against Ultramarines and Necrons.

I like the basic, no upgrade spineguant and hormies. However, ag-i could come in handy against SM, but against necrons i wouldn't bother with it. But yeah, for me anyway, spinegaunts are the way to go.

Spinegaunts. Cheap horde of doom. One of the epitomes of Tyranid philosophy.

spinefists are already TL, no need to upgrade them, just your basic spinegaunts.

I've been playing around with the idea of fielding devourer gaunts (with toxin sacs).
These babies pump out 2 shots apiece and its at 18", but they're as expensive as basic hormagaunts... so, does anyone have any experience with this type of gaunt?

yes i do-i've used every combination avialiable.

They are good if you get in range of them but there still bad because htey still die as easily and quite alot of the weapons that will kill htem easily are of a higher range then 18" -smurf bolter for one, elder sherikun rifle for another. (cant remember if its rifle or gun dont have my dex wif me) so you have to be very tactical in how you use them, making sure that they are behind terrain till there in range.

Shuriken Catapult eats gaunts, unfortunately, it has a range of 12", meaning that if a unit is trying to charge it, they will be lucky to get one round of shooting in.
