Welcome to Librarium Online!
Waaagh! fellow warbosses:
I would like all the advice you can muster. I will be facing off against the combine forces of the Tau and Imperial Guard. Two of my buddies are taking 755 points a piece against my 1500 point Speed Freek army.
Here is the posting for my Tau buddies thread:

Anyone have any suggestions?

Try to make as much bocking with the trukks/buggies/fast vehicles that u can. Make them move a couple turns to actually get LOS to your boyz. If you can hide on the first turn, drop the boyz on the ground and zoom your buggies/trukks etc. up to 31 inches on the first turn (red, boosta, fast vehicle). Then march your boyz out of LOS behind the (soon to be) blown up trukks/buggies/etc.
Or if you want, make all the boyz trukk boyz and zoom as fast as you can towards him (up to 31 inches) turning the vehicle sidewars (horizontal to his army) to hide the boyz behind. (Remember that you only get hurt on a 6, but he can only re-roll the wounds that are 1-3 as 4-6 normally wounds him.) Have a good game, and beat down some 'umies and fish 'eads.
Use lots of speed. If you can get into combat against this enemy, they will die- period. IG shouldnt give you too much grief: Their standard weapon (which makes up a huge bulk of a 750 point force) can't harm your vehicles, and the less said about their CC abilities the better. The tau, on the other hand, have guns whcih can easily glance your trukks, and those damn railguns! Using lots and lots of trucks I think is the way to go here, and make sure to use cover! (remember, 25%)
Turbo-boosting biker boyz. Followed by whatever the heck you want.
My gaming group's new motto: That army you're using is overpowered because it hurts my guys, codex is broken and needs a rewrite.
Great adivce, I plan on taking the following:
Warboss - Power klaw, slugga, 'eavy armor, bosspole, big gob, cybor body, bonic arm, and bonic bonic. His war trukk will be empty to be used as a rally point for retreating troops. Trukk - armor, painted red, turbo booster and rokkit launcha
Tank bustas - Nob with bosspole, big gob and rokkit launcha, boyz with 3 rokkit lanchas. War trukk - armor, painted red, turbo booster, rokkit launcha and bolt on big shoota
Burna boyz - Mek with power klaw and kustom force field. Boyz with four burnas. War trukk - armor, painted red, turbo booster, rokkit launcha and bolt on big shoota
Trukk boyz - Big shoota, sluggas and choppas. Room for Warboss. War trukk - armor, painted red, turbo booster, rokkit launcha and bolt on big shoota.
(2) 'eavy boyz - Nob with power klaw, slugga, bosspole and big gob. Three rokkit launchas. War trukk - armor, painted red, turbo booster, rokkit launcha and bolt on big shoota.
War buggies - Three with rokkit launchas, armor, painted red and turbo booster.
War bikes - Five standard set up.
'ere you go! Your feedback is welcomed.
Waaagh and Happy New Year!
He seems a bit expensive for not using his trukk. I would personally use a big mek instead of a boss- his KFF will help against railguns etc should you be unable to hide effectively.Warboss - Power klaw, slugga, 'eavy armor, bosspole, big gob, cybor body, bonic arm, and bonic bonic. His war trukk will be empty to be used as a rally point for retreating troops. Trukk - armor, painted red, turbo booster and rokkit launchaWell firstly, KoS dont use mobbing up, so that bosspole literally does nothing. Giving the boys rokkit launchas is of little use IMO, as every turn you should be moving too fast to fire, in close combat or behind terrain. Same with the bolton.Tank bustas - Nob with bosspole, big gob and rokkit launcha, boyz with 3 rokkit lanchas. War trukk - armor, painted red, turbo booster, rokkit launcha and bolt on big shootaDoesn't look bad. The burnas should help you toast some juicy 'oomiesBurna boyz - Mek with power klaw and kustom force field. Boyz with four burnas. War trukk - armor, painted red, turbo booster, rokkit launcha and bolt on big shootaBurna is much better than BS for trukkers: See the tankbusta comments. You may need the power weaponiness against battlesuits, as well.Trukk boyz - Big shoota, sluggas and choppas. Room for Warboss. War trukk - armor, painted red, turbo booster, rokkit launcha and bolt on big shoota.Assuming you mean 'ard boyz: The bosspole is still useless, as are the RLs and BOBS.(2) 'eavy boyz - Nob with power klaw, slugga, bosspole and big gob. Three rokkit launchas. War trukk - armor, painted red, turbo booster, rokkit launcha and bolt on big shoota.Turbo boosters arent much use for these guys, as they dont particulalry need as much mobility as trukks, but do need to shoot. Also, seeing as each opponent has to fill an FOC, so they probably wont have too much armour- especially the 'umie.War buggies - Three with rokkit launchas, armor, painted red and turbo booster. They're good for their points. Just make sure everyone is set up out of LOS first turn- if your trukks get stunned, you're toast!Fighta bombaI dont think these are a good idea. Firstly, the guard player will have nothing to shoot at with his lasguns except these bikes (S3 cant hurt trukks) so they'll come under so much fire they'll just melt. Secondly, if you get to their lines and charge a squad, it's very likely they'll kill everyone, leaving them in the open to get rapidfired next turn.warbikes
just pointing out, lasguns can glance trukks, theyre open topped.still, its not likely, but if he has enough shots...
Lasguns cannot glance trukks.. their str 3, armor on a trukk is 10 that's not possible. the +1 for pentration applies to the result chart not to the str of the weapons. In addition i am pretty sure you can only take 1 unit of ard boys. you would have to make the others scar boys. in addition you should be using a battlewagon as when armed with 3 TL big shootas, 5 bolt ons, and a unit of boys with 3 big shootas it can mince guard troops and fire warriors alike.
As for bikes, i'm not really sold on them since their almost the same points as buggies and kopters and they seem like better options for their points
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
Oh, sorry about that. I didnt read that rule correctly.
Happy New Year,
Comments on the last several posts:
My plan is to load the Warboss with the Trukk Boyz mob. This way I start with an open Trukk in case the boyz have to "mob up" after a retreat or a sacrifice piece to block in coming attacks.
Good catch, I was not thinking in the terms of KOS, but rather the basic Ork army. This will save some points.
It's my hope that massing rokkit launchas in a group will allow at least one or two to shoot through. The Nob in the Tank Busta mob has three ammo runts to allow me to re-roll misses. Basically this allows me 7 shots: three boyz and a Nob with 4 shots.
Turbo Boosters on War Buggies:
I agree on the Turbo Boosters on War Buggies. I will be able to save more points and maybe buy a Nob for the Biker mob. How far can the Bikers charge for the Assault phase and how far can they consolidate? Maybe I can move, charge and regroup on another group. I want to use the Bikers as cover, a softening agent and hopefully block LOS with them during with close combat.
According to the software application Enemies of the Imperium I can take up to three mobz. This would allow me up to 9 'eavy weapons: rokkit launchas, burnas or big shootas.
Warbikers -vs - War Buggies and Kopters:
MouseC112 - I understand where your coming from with the Buggies and Kopters and partially agree. I only have three Buggies and no Kopters models. I am using the Outrider War Bikers for the fast attack option. In the future I plan on purchasing more buggies and at least a squadron of Kopters, but for now I am trying to work with what I have. The IG player has a squad of mortars and last game they chewed me up. Last game I was a foot slogging army instead of the mean red road burning machine that I am now so maybe his mortars won't play a big factor.
The only thing that concerns me with my enemy right now is the Hammerheads. The Tau player will start the game with the Firewarriors in the HH. If I can concentrate fire on the HHs and take them out my life will be much easier.
MouseC112 once again we are of the same mind. A War Wagon is a death dealing machine capable of mass destruction, but again I don't have one. In the future this will be a priority unit for me. I have some trepidation placing so many points in one model. Many in the area (Upstate New York) have pointed out that they are worth the gamble. This is my first KOS army so I'll have to see how it plays out.
Thank you everyone for your advice. Please feel free to keep the comments coming. I'll write a battle report and post it once the dust has settled.
