Any roll of 6 automatically causes a wound regardless of toughness!!!
Is this on the to hit roll or the to wound roll?
Automatically causes a wound? No saves allowed?
Someone please clarify!!!!!
Sorry, but you're wrong on that one, well, half-wrong; It's on a roll of 6 on the to wound roll or armor penetration roll, and yes armor saves are allowed.
Damn! Need something to beat those terminators! Maybe the Hvy. Destroyer needs at least one more wound.
Termies are the bane of Necrons. Your only hope is to shoot the hell out of them. Remember, every 6 hits is one dead termi (on average) and at 50 points each death hurts. So more shots means more dead termies, so rapid firing warriors or Immortals are your best bet most likely.
I do not criticize. I do not offend. All I offer is my opinion which means only as much as you make it.
Heavy Destroyers can help with them, but yes, shot volume is the key to victory. If you can, sometimes it's better to ignore them and outmanuver the termies, due to their extreme sluggishness. Pariahs are decent in cc if used properly, but this is both difficult and dangerous.
Well yesterday I had the opportunity to play a terminator heavy army. (2 scout squads, 6 squads of terminators, i believe. We played 1700 points, my list was:
Lord warscythe, res orb, destroyer body, phase shifter
tomb spyders x3
I ran the wraiths and the lord together. To give that nasty close combat punch. (40 attacks on the charge, 4 that gives no saves) Hitting the terminator on 4 and wounding on 2 make them roll an average of 15 saves a turn and striking first kills about 2-3 average. Plus another 1-2 from the lord that can be an entire squad (if he goes min.) with one close combat. With the 3+ inv. they would be hard to kill, and even when they do they have a 4+ WBB so per wraith has a 1/6 of dying.
The terminators fear the deceiver. That I5 striking before the terminators really hurts hitting on 3's and killing on 2's. Lightning claws require a 6 to wound, thunder hammer require a 4 to wound.
Tomb spyders are there just to be a big speed bump for the terminators. Lightning claws have a hard time (6 to wound) against them and hammers strike last. The spyder might kill 1-2 terminators a round.
The warriors and immortals just was there for mass firepower.
In hindsight, heavy destroyers instead of tomb spyders MIGHT have been better but the tomb spyders did kill 10 terminators (YAY!!).

2 in 3
You get a 4 to wound
1 in 2, so 1 in 3 overall
They get a 1 on their armour save.
1 in 6, so 1 in 18 overall
18 is an average-large number for a necron warrior squad. So let's assume that you have a squad of 18, not moving (you want to keep OUT of CC), with termies advancing towards you.
Turn 1 in range: 1 termie killed
Turn 2 in range: 1 termie killed, 2 overall
Turn 3 in range: 2 termies killed (rapid fire), 4 overall, and you get charged.
This is assuming they forget to shoot at you.
You: 4s to hit, 4s to wound, their 2+ armour save. 1 in 24 chance of them dying.
And so you are dead.

Wow, that's quite a lot of wraiths, how did the game go overall?
Can we get a battle report, or link to one?
