when i bought my tau(first army off of ebay), it came with a farsight model.
now he is 270pts, so would that mean atleast 1000pts? or 1500?
he'll only let me bring 1 railhead, so that means i'd need to get my broadsides up and running(plus maybe some pathfinders for the markerlight)
when do you guys use him?
When to use him? Never, unless you just want a fluffy army.
He costs too many points for what he does. Maybe in 1000-1500, where using only 2 Heavy options is still feasable. And since you can load out with Fire Warriors and Crisis Suits, you can still get enough Anti-whatever to field a playable army.
I use a Farsight army in 1000 point games that's something like
6 Stealth Suits
4 Squads of 12 Fire Warriors (It may only be three. They have a Shas'O)
I may switch the Stealths to Crisis, because there is a ton of 5,5 stuff with the Warriors already.
Half Gods are worshiped with Wine and Flowers. Real Gods are worshiped in Blood.
Blood for the Blood God! Beer for the Bronze Keg!
Easy answer: Under 1200 pts or so.
Farsight himself isn't so bad for his pts (remeber regular Shas'O's can hit 180 pts), and he let's you do a lot more with some of your other units. But his choice restrictions are brutal. But in a smaller game you're prolly only going to need one HH, one Broadside swuad, etc.
