everyone knows that tau are rubbish in close combat.

and i was wondering what should i do with my tau in citryfight. obviously the board is going to have alot of terrain so it gives the enemy a chance to get up close to my tau.

i will also likely be fighting assault armies.

    any help is much appreciated

    thanks

Seeker Missiles. They might not be the strongest weapons in Tau arsenal, but they dont need line of sight.

Place your kroot inside of some forward buildings to slow the enemy advance. Most opponents will underestimate their firepower and their CC skills.

thats totally true, because a lot of people think kroot are crap. its a pitty there are no trees in the city, for then they would be really powerfull

also using some broadsides in your army, and putting them on strategic points, can get rid of a lot of things you dont want to have to close.

The stealth have jet packs too so their good for the terrain aspect and they can tear up a unit before it gets in to close combat.

in cityfight there arent any large areas to hide and we know tau have problems in close combat so we dont need you to tell us.

You definately need to find height avantage in order to take advantage of the Tau's firepower. When I play in CityFight, I always get my firewarriors into buildings as quickly as possible. After setting up the fire support, I send in the kroot, the battlesuits and the tanks. The kroots will shoot up and then assualt the enemy, while the battlesuits use their mobility and fire power to take care of the trash, and the tanks hunt down the heavier targets. The Firewarriors will take out a lot for their points if placed strategically! They will obliterate anything that gets within rapid fire range!

I think aunshi would be a good idea.

Make sure u ambush with the kroot, don't leave em in the open or they'll get gunned down easily.

If you're lucky you'll be able to find a spot with some good firing lanes for ur FWs.

Just control those with ur static troops, (fws/broadsides), and then harass throughout the terrain with ur mobile stuff.

Gun drone squadrons might be good there too. They get the assault move, and they're better for close range shooting. Though I guess you'll want ur fast attacks slots for hounds... darn. I think u should at least try attaching drones to increase the strength of ur mobile forces.

Gun drones with a stealth suit team are hard to kill, cheap extra wounds, and good to use because they keep the same 18" range.
