Welcome to Librarium Online!
I just purchased one recently and want to know how these things do. The stats are impressive and in my book a good buy even at the high point cost. I think they are better than most of the other Gargantuans the Tyranids have.
I have a Hierophant myself, check the gallery, it's a incredible model and the detail is amazing but not as good as the detail on the Trygon.
The main aspect of the Hierophant is terror, nobody want to get near it and they'll fire anything they can find to try and kill it, this is good as the Hierophant can take one hell of a beating and the est of your swarm will easily reach the enemy lines intact.
It's quite viscious but also very fragile.
I don't know much about the hierophant, but I'm assuming it must be fielded as a seperate detatchment? And as for the trygon, the vicious but fragile description is unfortunately accurate, i've tried it, and using deep strike rules I was able to cause massive casualties to a space marine squad, but the Trygon was overwhelmed by firepower shortly after, meaning that it could not make up its 290 points. The recent addition of the field helps quite a lot however, by futher increasing the casualties inflicted on the opponent.
im pretty sure but dont you need your opponents permission to field these beasts? if so, i know alot of ppl who would say NO if i had one in my army, so there goes my canadian dollars down the drain! Douchebags!
You do need permission to take it, since technically it isn't part of "Chapter Approved" and it is in and of itself a separate force org chart.Originally Posted by boxman101
Some tourneys though allow its use but say it fills up 2 (or all) of your Heavy Support slots.
