I just wanted to hear some opinions about fielding SoL or the Sythe
yes the SoL is a power weapon, so no regular saves, but the Warsythe has the pen bonus and no saves whatsoever, even invulnerable ones.
I normally fit all Lords with a Warsythe, becuase the range on the SoL is limiting.
Wanting others Opinions: Let me have it.
i find that the warscyth is the best option against most armies. it is a good idea for taking out the characters that would normally rip through the warriors.
thats what I think
On a VoD lord with res. orb take the SoL over the scythe. He'll be able to provide some support for the immortals he's likely teleporting and can target a differnt squad. Not to mention if they do get assaulted he's not gonna be able to fight back to much all by himself anyway...and he can just tele. them out.
Against armies taht don't have many Inv. saves the SoL is also better, for obvious reasons. But mostly just go for the scythe and go beat down some characters. Just remember that some lord configurations are better off outside combat and thus should probably stick with the SoL so they can do something other than be eye candy.....
Nevermore Chapter: 6200 pts; 97/49/11; Longest Streak: 9 Wins/4 Losses; Nearing Completion
this has been debated a fair bit, one can find many a thread on it but my summary of those would be,
1. the SOL should be the default becuase its
B. has a great power armour killing ranged attack
C. is still a power weapon
D most models don't have inv. saves
2. however the warscythe is useful if you plan on facing your lord against demons, HQ's or the like. especailly if he is running with wraiths

Bob: If you had a dollar for every 60 cents...
you'd be Canada.
Bill: actually i think its more like 70 cents.

i use both in my army list. SOL i give to my foot support/VOD lord to add a little extra to the shooty phase. now on my destroyer lord who's job is to go forth and slaughter with scarabs or wraiths i use the warsythe. just the way i do it.
"One after one, by the star-dogged moon,
Too quick for groan or sigh,
Each turned his face with a ghastly pang,
And cursed me with his eye.
Four times fifty living men,
(And I heard nor sigh nor groan)
With heavy thump, a lifeless lump,
They dropped down one by one"
I prefer the Warscythe not for tactical reasons, just becasue of preference ...
both are equally deadly
I just have one question ... why does the lord come with a warscythe as default when SoL, surely, should be?
He doesn't, you uprgrade the SOL to a warscythe for x points.
He is talking about the actual physical model. The foot slogging Lord comes with a WS on the model. If you have a Dest Lord, you can just swab the WS arm off the Foot Lord with the SoL arm off the Dest lord Sprues.
Or just use the SoL on the Dest Lord call it the Warscythe, and the warscythe on the Foot lord a SoL. Thats what I do. Just so long as the two weapons appear different. Hope that clears things up.
Either way there is no real difference between them ( despite the picture in the codex) the lord weapon can de either a SOL of warscythe, its not even 'counts as'.
