The Prism Cannon is the longest ranged weapon that the Eldar have and with S-9 and AP-1 I think it is a great weapon...Im thinking about buying the cannon sprue and sticking it on my Falcon and switching it depending on my opponents army. I just wanted to know about Eldar vets oppinions on the Prism Cannon.
Pew pew pew! (Had too)
I thought that it was cheaper than that. It was more like around 115. I would be more than willing enought to pay that point cost. If it can take out 3 SM infantry a turn, than in three turns, it can take outs it's point cost. Maybe, if your lucky, it can take out a tank that is worth more than the prism is. Thats my opinion.
Well with a 60 inch range im thinking about it but the BS realy bites..HARD.

I usually take that risk on behalf that no one can out range the weapon. You have a pretty good chance I think.

Conventional wisdom claims that a Falcon will outperform a prism any day of the week. The extra range is not as big a deal as it seems. I have only in the rarest case experienced my Falcon out of range of anything on a standard table.
And the big issue is the BS, as has been mentioned. Hitting once every other round is not gonna rock anyones world. A Falcon has statistically 2 shots each round meaning that it should (again statistically) hit once every round with the added benefit of having the possibility to hit more than once in a round.
Since blast template rules means you will usually only hit one model with the small blast the prism just does not add up.
If you want to try it out, then most opponents will let you proxy it for a few games. Just play your Falcon as a prism and see how it works out. That way you don't have to invest in stuff before you know you are gonna use it.

LOL. That is very true. But instead of adding all those upgrades. Make it cheaper, add the Crystal Targeting matrix instead.
That makes it.... what? 5 points cheaper?
