Welcome to Librarium Online!
hey i'm a new necron player and i was wondering if any seasoned vets have opinions, constructive or not, of a startegy combining a necron phalanx with a c'tan and a lith and some scarabs as a tactic.
I'm cooking up a 2000 point list and thinking of marching a warrior phalanx with a foot lord w/ a resorb in the middle up the field. While this is going on i could use scarabs with disruption fields to harass heavy weapons crews and hunt tanks. Where i'm shaky is whether or not to deep strike the lith, and i have no idea how to implement the use of a c'tan. however, i DO want to use a lith and a c'tan, so not taking them is about the only suggestion that's worthless here, otherwise, bring it on. who has ideas on how to use the c'tan and lith in tandem without it being points redundant, if that's even possible, and how to combine it with the phalanx and win.
I have used almost that exact list before, against tau.
1 'lith, 1 foot lord w/res orb, GofF, Chronometron, 1 deceiver, 50 warriors, 10 scarabs w/ D fields, 4 destroyers, 2 heavy destroyers.
It completely kicked, is all I can say.
We were doing a Take+Hold with escalation. I used the deceiver to re-deploy my units, making one of his fire warrior units useless for the first few turns, took out his hammerhead with the heavy destroyers, tied up his crisis suits with the scarabs, then D/Sed the 'lith on top of his devilfish, and discharged 18 warriors into his ranks, while my destroyers all but wiped out his last unit of fire warriors. As my Lord and his 2 units of warriors marched up the field, they wiped out the units of pathfinders and stealth suits which my opponent had deployed in front of his lines. My C'tan actually did nothing beyond the re-deploying, but that was because he came in late.
Having the 'lith and a unit of warriors in reserve is a good idea IMO- gives your opponent that wariness about where you're going to come in. Especially against armies weak in CC. The monolith is a good idea against CC armies too- for pulling warriors out of CC.
Both the C'tan and the Monolith could incite cries of cheese, but that is a whole lot of points that you're not spending on necrons.
