Welcome to Librarium Online!
it's that time again for my bi-monthly advice requesting post. I am going to challenge a SW player at the local store and wanted to hear what fellow Nid players got out of playing them. It is to my understanding that they are good at CC and shooting (blood claws/long fangs), but in typical SM fashion not a master of either.
The player has drops pods which I have seen him use along with a dreadnought, which is the usually, TLLC and DCCW. He is prone to assaulting from what I have seen.
Is there you guys would/would not recommend, aside from the rending claws.
zoanthropes will help to take down some SW numbers, als make sure you tackle his characters with a broodlord.
The SW have tough characters I assume then, whats their I like?. What is the frost blade? Rune Priest/Wolf Priest?
None of their initiatieve can beat genestealers, increased initiatieve for the tyrant and lictors, they will strike at the same time as raveners.
the Wolfpriest is the SW version of the chaplain but has none of teh new chappie rules from codex SM, the runepriest is the SW version of a Librarian, be carefull if he has a runeweapon as it's the same as a forceweapon.
and Venerable dreadnoughts can be taken as HQ, and they can also allow a re-roll to who goes first right?
Space wolves usually dont pack quite as many bolters as regular marines, so it might be worthwhile to use hormagaunts with toxin sacs.
Have you considered a broodlord?
The enemy will be comming towards you, and what better way of greeting them then with this ugly fella, he'll shred SW characters, especially if you give him implant attack.
If you bring fexes, be sure to upgrade their I, as SW units can pack a lot of powerfists. Its also worth noting that they tend to bring obscene amounts of power weapons, so its better go upgrade the T and W, instead of the Sv.
ARe they normals SW or 13th Co.?
Yea the Broodlord always makes an appearance for me, last game him and 7 genestealers went thru a death company with chaplain, BA HQ which was about 370 points and a tactical squad (he made his points back). He was eventually taken apart by mass lascannon fire.
So you would suggest implant attacks, I will do that then.
SW can take more PW than other chapters I guess?
Not sure if it's traditional or 13th, what is the diff?
Do they not have as many bolters as other chapters because they are geared towards CC? (bolt pistol and CC weapon).
the Ven. Dread allows for a "who starts" re-roll right?
The 13th co. are grey and have no vehicles.
Space wolves often have little anti-tank fire so carnifexes are a pain. Their HQ are pretty rock hard but they don't take too kindly to S8 attacks.
They are CC monsters, an assault with 10 BC makes a 20 strong gaunt unit look pointless. There are often a lot of power weapons in squads so be ready. Outnumbering is not worth trying (in the effort to get them to run) as SW ignore negative modifiers in CC.
The ven dread does give that ability so deployment is key. Bascially S8 and rending can cane SW, high I troops are fantastic and Hive tyrants can rip the beating heart out of the army.
Hope this helps.
Helps like crazy Outsider, thanks.
What about their I anything higher than normal SM?
Do they get pinned like normal or do they have a special rule for that?
One question, doesn't have to do with facing them but I heard they drink Nitroglycerin? is that true or has my leg been pulled?
