using the joy of VDR in army builder i built this glorious transport for my pathfinders:

    Armour: 11 all round
Weapons: 3 Burstcannons (1 central, 1 on each side); 1 TL Pintel Mounted Burst Cannon; 2 Seeker Missiles
    the BS upgrade
    transport capacity of 6

all told it comes to about 180 points (including the seekers); if/when i model it i will use a devil fish base and the burst cannons off of the hammerhead sprue (with the option to take off the pintel mounted burst cannon and turn it into a hammerhead with a railgun/ion cannon)

any thoughts on whats good/bad and anything that needs changing

i also need a name for it, assault devil fish sounds a bit crappy and i couldn't think of any fish names that haven't been taken (stingray, tiger shark are both gone)

    howabout the "Jellyfish"

it stings.... which is what you'll do with 4 burst cannons.

That would be an awesome option......burst cannons wih 4 BS could do quite a bit of damage rushing into a lightly armoured squad...I'd say worth the points as longs as it's a troop coice and not heavy support...12 armour in front though...

You need to give it the upgrade that allows you to fire as a fast vehicle. Multi trackers. That way with the new vehicle rules you can move 12 inches and fire all your guns. This means your even harder to kill and you do more dammage for a few more pts. Also allows you to use guns while your delivering troops.
The secret of success is sincerity. Once you can fake that, you have it made.
You will live a long full life and gradually decay into a useless blob.

Your idea is kindof lame. What are you gonna transport in it? Tau aren't really the "mobile" force you need... And 6 of them aren't gonna get much done . They don't assualt, so drop the transports other than for a pathfinder or two .

i like the bursters. i agree it should be open topped. then you could have a markerlight in there to fire. it would be like a fast moving missile platform(till it runs out of missiles.)

I would call it tiger shark. (for the fich theme i.e. hammerhead and devil fish.)

those points do include the multitracker so it can fire as a fast vehicle, its designed for "hot dropping" pathfinders which is why it only has a transport capacity of six. it'll replace their devilfish so it'll be fast attack

tiger shark is my favourite but its already been taken by this rather gorgeous bit of forgeworldery

i can't find anything relating stingray to 40k so i'm going to call it that unless anyone can suggest anything better

That is a really interesting concept. Basicly a heavly armed pathfinder transport that is good at munching infantry. However it is my personal opinion that it does need alittle bit more armor. Seeing 4 burst cannons fly closer to my troops I would designate every heavy weapon I could to take it down before it got anywhere close. Maybe 12 armor up front? it would make the cost alittle bit more but you would be surprised just how much that 1 point of armor can save your ass.
