Do you think genestealers with scything talons and extended carapace cost too much for a 1000p list (I just like the look of scything talons on genestealers)
My thoughts are the extended crapace is a must have in this AP5 world, but scything talons are kinda a waste even at 2000pts. In a 1000pt game where scyhting talons could mean a group of spinegaunts, I would say a defenite no. But extended carapce can really increase the durability of stealers, especially when used right.

If someone helps you, or you just like what they say, rep them
Extended carapice a definate must have, the talons well I never use them, the Stealers can usually kill anything they hit anyway (esp in 1000pts)with base attacks plus charge bonus, but model them with Talons anyway you dont have to include them on the list profile, this game is about modeling and converting etc as much as playing, the reverse is not usually accepted i/e claiming the benefits of talons but not modeling them on the Stealer, but having the talons and not using the benefits is generally ok.Originally Posted by Mephiston the king
Carapace = essential on genestealers
Talons = its more efficient to not get talons and feild more genestealers.
IMO 5 stealers with EC is better than 4 stealers with EC and talons. Id rather have 10 attacks in 5 wounds over 12 attacks in 4)
The other reason I want to put on sything talons is that I want to use some rending claws on my warriors but people say you only get one set per box.Is this true? If it is would it be possible to put on genestealer rending claws
Yeah it sucks how you only get one RC set per warrior box, and they look fairly retarded compared to those of lictors and broodlord. Um what you could do is have two units of stealers. So buy two boxes of stealers and say you need three RC for your warriors. Make a squad of six stealers with ST and 10 without ST. This way you get six RC sets for warriors. This is think is the least expensive way ($ wise). The other way is to order the seperate sprues of the warriors, lictors or broodlords form the UK GW website. It's up to you.
I never buy anything other than extended carapace for my genestealers, it simply isnt cost effecient.
In an army where you do not use gaunts as a meatshield, scuttlers might be useful, but only in an army like that... otherwise your genestealers will end up in front of the gaunts, which is just sorta silly.
Personally I think genestealer claws on warriors look awful, but I'm also too cheap to buy a whole sprue for 2 small pieces.
Luckily there's metal parts that look exactly like the plastic rending claws:
I think they're from the Archive Lictor, which can be tricky to find on the GW site.
