Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm going to start a new nids army...do you find them effective in tourneys especially against tau and eldar
EMPORERS CHAMPION LAZARUS
GETHSEMANE CRUSADE...TUTIOS FIDEI
Yes, I find them effective. You just have to use as much cover as possible and get into assault. Sometimes distraction units can help like Lictors.
Like any army it depends on the army composition. the terrain and luck. The last tourney I was in there was a 'Nidzilla/Genestealer army doing very well.
I've never had a problem with Tau before... but I haven't played them with the new codex, so I can't say if it will change.
Eldar, well, it really depends on the list. If it's a cheesy Ulthwe list, it can be extremely difficult to beat. (The one with huge seer council of 2 mind wars, fortune, 2 augments... backed up by 2 falcons and 3-4 wave serpents all with crystal targetting matrix)
Nids are very effective, but you will definanlty learn to love the rule about "6 inches of forest means your heavy bolters can't see my stealers/fex/tyrant/random other mean thing a few inches from the enemy line."
also get really good at infiltrate, nothing like getting an early assault (second turn at the least) with your broodlord and his home slices!
Fleet of foot will become your favorite rule with gaunts and stealers against shooty armies.
Tau i have never had problems with, hormies are more than a match for ANYTHING the tau can muster in melee, FoF + 6'' move + 12'' assault X several sqauds = overrun and crushing victory for u
eldar are a really diverse army so depending on the player and the list they can be easily dealt with. Ulthwe and mind war are (as mentioned) difficult. but their weedy toughness of 3 means even your lowliest gaunts have a fighting chance against eldar. eldar are also easliy breakable if not in the hands of a vet.
i feel of just kind of rambled here, so this is the last thing, remember fexes are best at shooting, dont make the same mistake i did, just see how a dakka fexes and a screamer killer do when compared to each other.
Yah my friend and a very cheesy Bel tan list, three wraith lords for heavy farsear with large worlock body guard all with some sort of heavy flamer power. and for all the troop slots were dark reapers.
I never beat it with my tyranids or any army for that matter but once i did kill one of the dark reaper squads, My friend could see the angry mob of players build up and sold the army for a good price and has now started and chaos army.
