ive never actually used a my lord on a jetbike because he just gets so expensive. when i used him on a skyboard, that 12 in move makes the 15 points worth while. not to mention a 4+ save once the shadowfield fails. i dont know, i like to keep the lord solo (no retinue) but he just has to be able to move more than 6inches. for 15 points you get 6 more inches to keep up with the raiders and your not spending so many points on a jetbike. keep in mind that many of the battle i play are 1000pt. i guess i can see where in a 1500pt battle, a more mobile lord is worth the points.
how come you dont see hardly any lords on skyboards?
There was a thread just like this about a week ago, check it out all the opinions/startegies are there
whoops sorry, thanks
I searched for it, but all I found was a thread about reaver squads and hellion squads, choosing the correct vehicle for your lord is something very diffrent.Originally Posted by WraithGuardian

The thing with the hellion board, which by all means is a good choice for your lord IF you use it right, is that the 5++ save he gets doesent count in CC, that he will be limited to 12" of movement every turn, and that he cant assault if he deepstrikes, which means that you need to be very careful when doung so. The first of these problems can be helped by the shadowfield if he is your first lord, but you will need to compensate for the other things.
Consider really carefully what you want to gain from your jetbike/skyboard. IMO, jetbikes are best for your first lord (with shadowfield), because the +1 T makes your shadowfield last longer. A secondary lord would however be better of on a skyboard, as he needs any save boost he can get to survive.
i dont want to seem annoying here, but 35 points is so much. you can save 20 points by getting the skyboard which you could use for another agoniser somewhere else or something. i just want to make sure that its not dumb to use a skyboard. i pretty much see all the differences, but what i dont see, is people using the skyboard, like at all. im not missing anything right? for 15 points you get the 12inches in movement. thats the main attraction. for 35 points you get 24inches in movement and plus 1 to toughness. it makes sense to use a skyboard for 1000pt battles or less right?

i'd prefer the skyboard... your right about the 20pts thingy...
also converting a decent/cool looking skyboard lord would be easier than doing the same with a jetbike lord imo...
perhaps you can show us some pics when you have finished making him :shifty:

Personally I don't like mounting my lord on either a skyboard or a jetbike as he is far slower this way than if he is mounted in a raider with another squad, and has a far shorter charge range than on foot (only 18" compared with 25-30"), for thsi reason alone I would always advocate leaving the mount at home, the added toughness is of little benfit and not worht the disadvantages adn the 35 point cost and a lord on their own should probably be equipped for fighting monsters rather than troops, that is to say with an agoniser and therefore the strength bonus helps not at all.
However if you are going to put your lord on a mount I would pick the jetbike for the increase in toughness it gives and use a power weapon and drugs to go squad hunting, sitll not something I would reccomend however.
between the 2, i would go with the jetbike.. the +1 to T and S are good.. give him a punisher and combat drugs/ atimus vitae, and you would have a str 6 lord...
You cant use a two handed weapon while mounted in a bike

It depends what do you want:
An ideal punisher lord:
As you see, there is no room for a jetbike, so it is better to take a hellion, as i do.
