Could go toe-to-toe with a Greater Daemon, particularly a Bloodthirster. I mean...the Avatar is supposed to be a god, as are the Greater Daemons, but it can still be smacked down in close combat by a mere construct of Wraithbone created by the race that worships and adores him (Khaine, I mean). I mean, seriously. Khaine is the god of war. Khorne is the god of blood. Khaine is ALSO the god of the bloody hand. This makes Khaine THAT MUCH MORE VERSATILE. What the hell is wrong here?

An avatar is a part of Khaine, not an actual god. They were created when Khaine was defeated by Slannesh and shattered into pieces each piece being an Avatar. So it's only a tiny piece of a god, not an actual pure thing. A Bloodthirster isn't a god, it's given great power by Khorne but not part of him. He shapes them out of the ether and creates daemons, so their not part of him.

Anyways the Avatar is good as it is. The Eldar don't worship Khaine, they fear him. They only pray to Khaine when they are in battle otherwise they would be more like the DE. And to awaken an Avatar they have to sacrifice someone, and they don't do this often only in dire need. So the Avatar doen't need anything doing to it.

Well, actually you're half right. Ahem: "The Avatar is the living incarnation of a god" straight outta the codex. And I dunno if the fluff's changed, but in the Chaos army section of the rulebook, it says that the greater daemon is actcually the "physical manifestation of these evil and despicable powers [AKA the gods.]"

yup... i see where this is going. A fluff fight? plz, cool it .
anyway, the avatar would kick his ass in cc even though he is pretty crap in most other aspects. (no gun, large points, only 3 wounds... i know, good, but he should have more in my opinion: HE IS MADE OF MOLTEN IRON AND WRAITHBONE 4 GODS SAKE&#33
FROM THE BOOK OF THE IMPERIUM:

    1. Thou shalt not go on a panty raid in the Adaptus Soritus temple.
    2. Thou shalt not flirt with Howling Banshees. They are the enemy.
    3. Thou shalt not refer to Battle Sisters as Bolter Biatches
    4. Darth Vader isn’t the son of Abaddon
    5. Thou shalt not reassemble a Necron into a washing machine

I agree, the avatar needs to be better.
At least give him 4 wounds (a daemonhost has it, for gods sake) and give it a 3+ save.
They could add a special rule, that if you kill it, everyone in base contact takes a Str. 4 hit. (It has blood of molten magma&#33

Eldar's strength doesn't lie in close combat, and so they will never be as good as Space Marines/Chaos/Tau/Tyrannid etc.

And please don't you dare start whining that something in your army is a little crap! I already play an Eldar guy who thinks he's the mutts nuts because he uses a Scorpion. Let's look at your Wraithlord, what weakness does it have? I'll tell you, Sv. 3+. That's it!

I know my Wh40k life will never be over until I have slaughtered enough Eldar to make me content... each recieving a fantastic death, survivors will be mounted on the walls of countless torture rooms...

Eldrad's soul tastes sweet... mmmmmmm... bwuahahahahahaaa!

The avatar might look weak compared to Greater Daemons and C'Tan, but it's what, 80 points? Not very much... add to that it's Independant Character status, and you have a cheap close combat thingy that can take on most half decent assault units, and which cannot be shot whilst closing in (stick it with a guardian squad or something).

I agree, the Eldar are a very shooty army. EDIT: IMO i think the Avatar sucks, but it may do well in a biel-tan Army.
