Why are Orks the only race in teh game with all BS2 models in the entire army? (excluding feral orks)
Does anyone see this is as completly unfair? A 9 point Ork as it is already has hardly any reedeeming qualities.
BS 2 is just terrible
Strength 3, i understand because of the high number of attacks.
The Strength 3 argument is that 3 covers a wide variety of areas. A Tau has strength 3, a guardsman has stregnth 3, 3 is the number that covers a wide variety of things
Toughness 4 gets Orks nowhere because most weapons are either strenght 4 or in abundance.
Weapon Skill 4 is good, but weapon skill doesnt matter to much, seems more of an elf thing to me
+6 armor save, well they do wear no armor, but they are supposed to be feiled in mass!
9 points a model is 100% unjustified in my opinion
The point of Orks is to overwhelm
How can I overwhelm you if your space marine costs 15 points, and is better in every single way
And my Ork is 9 points, and is guarenteed to die to any small arms fire.
Anyway my argument was that Orks either need a major point tone down, or better stats.
Mabye even a strength 4 on the charge kind of rule like fantasy, i love fantasy orks, for 5 points a model they are amazing
But what do you guys think needs to be done to 40k orks to bring them up to the infamous hordes of Fantasy orcs?
“Krump first, assk qweztions neva'!"- 3000 Orks
Dark Eldar- 1500 1/0/0
"the very gods for vengeance cry”- 3000 Dwarves
hey first of all this is not fantasy and you can not compare the two because the rules are different and even with bs 5 they still have guns and can still hit where as the fantasy orks don't and in fantasy the bs doesn't matter because it always gets reduced because of modifiers so stop complaining
also note that orls are supposed to be good in combat not shoting and with the chopa they will usulay get there points back
another note: if u dislike them so much why do you do them?
ther is something to think about and i would recommendu stay away from some orky vets after wat you said Hehehe
My WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH power
your waagh power
whose gonna win oh and good luck
the point cost is high because of the choppa.

i sorta agree with you but. im ok with the 2 BS but i think the warboss should atleast have a 3. but what i don't like is that they have a strength of 3. just like IG. i mean isn't an ork stronger than a human? i also think they should have a save if 5+. becasue thire skin is stonger compaired to other races. and their 'I' should defanatly be higher than a 2. i mean come on their orks, they were made for fighting an' wining!
Its all very well balanced, really.
Strength three may not seem fair, but the high number of attacks is what represents orks strengths. If we had s4 basic, we would have to cost a lot more points: Skarboyz already dominate marines.
Toughness four works well, I think.
I2 may seem a bit silly, but again, it works. Orks are not highly primed and trained fighting machines, they're hulks of muscle with large axes. Not the brightest twigs in any book, it takes them time to decide where to krump next!
actually feral orks all have BS3
BS2 is unfair? How do you suppose that they would hit the enemy when they just try to sound more then the other Orks? Firing in the air wiht one hand while jumping isn't gonna make you hit a lot.
And besides, with enough Big Shootas you are gonna hit and kill something (ever seen two Wraithlords go down by Big Shootas in a single game?). It adds to the comical feel of the Orks and when you actually hit more then you should (my pals Battlewagon hits 70% of all it shoots) you get all roused and get an Orky feel in the stomach.
10 marines with no upgrades costs 150pts. You get 16 Orks for those 10 marines. Combine this in to a larger army and laugh when you bring 100+ models to a 1500pts list.
I do feel BS2 is justified for Orks. Considering orks lack the capacity to stand still and fire, and they are usually distracted by the loud noise the gun makes, it kinda makes sense. I get a kick out of it as the above poster mentioned comedy. This last weekend my unit of tankbustas hurled 4 rokkits at a landraider. My opponent laughed when i declared the shot, and then laughed louder when 1 hit, and penetrated and i rolled a 6 to decimate his tank. There were several people watching and it set the tone for a highly comical game involving Badmoons vs Black Templars.
The only stat i do have an issue with is that Orks are Strength 3. This makes no sense as your saying a muscle bound ork is the same strength as a basic guardsman? Basic guard troops should be Strength 2, Orks 3, Marines 4. Granted our Nobs are str 4, but come on, our warboss Strength 5, toughness 4? They really need to rethink our stat line and cost for regular orks just a little. Shoota boyz should be 7 points, sluggas 8
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
I think the S and T are justified. Remember, your average Ork is shorter than most humans. So while it looks like they have more muscles than Arnold the Governator, the models are by no means perfectly to scale, and hence their muscle size is decieving. They do have very tough skin though, hence the Toughness of 4.
Not all orks are small though, some grow to be quite large (remember, they're just walkings fungi...but sometimes you find a really big mushroom). The bigger the ork, the more frightening it is to the other orks, hence the higher up on the chain of command. Thats why nobs are S4 and warbosses are S5 (they're just bigger).

I find all of the stats of the orks to be just right
WS- The orks have been fighting all their lives, and the 4 helps to represent their natural feriocity.
BS- Orks take no training with their weapons, they simply pick up a loud gun, point and pull a trigger, there is no thought or rational, they simply point in a general direction. an ork could care less about the destruction it causes, he just wants to hear the loud noises!
S-An orks strength of 3 represents the fact that they arent quite as strong as a SM but they
ARE stronger than a IG, if there were decimal values, they would have a 3.5
T- Orks thick skin lends to their 4 toughness, which IMO is perfect.
I- the 2 represents the fact that orks arent too bright, and that they need time to figure out their targets. Remember a CC represents more than the units standing still and hacking at each other, it represents a HUGE variety of things, units getting seperated, scouring through buildings, etc.
A- the natural high attacks that orks get represents the fury of their attacks and the chaotic nature of their assaults.
Ld- Their Ld is representative of their mob mentality, while in a mob they are next to fearless, but when alone they are cowardly and wish to do nothing more than save their own skin.
Armor- the 6+ represents the fact that all they do for armor is take some plates of scrap and nail them to themselves. nothing fancy. Their tough skin is represented by their 4 T.
Overall i think the orks statlines are just right (The Sluggas at least, the warboss needs a higher T though) the only problem being that they need to be maybe a wee bit cheaper. other than that, their perfect.
