    stingwings or piranha?

Since we don't have the codex in stores here, I just wanted to know which unit is better (in your opinion). I don't have the stats on either of them but i'm thinking that stingwings are definately better. I hear they have fleet and if the gun stats are true, then they're perfect marine killers. I fight armies that are all T4 3+ saves, so will there be any reason to bother with piranha?

Ask yourself why in the world would you trust a win loss record? Playing them yourself is the only way to tell.

The true joy in the game is playing down to the last model, no matter the odds.

Yeah, I don't really see the advantage of piranhas, so far... I like the looks of Stringwings, though :]

Yah Stingwings seem really good at first glance but if you check the French GW site that lists the stats of the gun and the unit it kinda sucks.

Its a jump pack equipped ork (with fleet) with BS 3....that sounds okay....but its save is 5+ and the gun range is 12 inches......if you don't wipe out the marines on the first shot the rapdidfire bolters will eat them alive....and they're kinda pricey.

Vespids. They are cheaper, more models in a squad, have really good guns and stats. Especially when compared to Pirahnas...

Well, they cost more than a normal spacemarine, have a new marinekilling gun, and as I said good stats, and are REALLY good flyers. They don't have any new rules but they are still good for Marine-hunting. :ninja:

Even Marines will fall if thier outnumbered, course, I wouldn't be charging Assault Marines with Vespid.

eh, it's on of those situation, you got 8 vespids, he's got 9 marines. You get the jump on him, shoot them in the face, say you kill 3. Then you charge, and maybe you kill another 1 or 2. But now there's 4 of them swinging against 8 of you. Now it's not looking so bad. Certainly better than waiting for them to rapid fire you back with 6 guys.

meh true. Same thing with genestealers. Half the battle is getting them into the assault (or in this case of Vespids the 12 inch shoot and assault.) But unless the map is full of line of sight blockers your guys can easily die from 2nd turn shooting (where by this time you are in range of bolters maybe but heavy bolters yes....)

Deepstriking is a bad idea because you can easily not get enough kills with your gun and then be shot back and assaulted.

well the release is coming soon so I'll probably be facing some vespids soon enough to see if they're worth it.

Piranhnas however are looking nice though as a support markerlight unit with missles to deal with light infantry. I can see myself using them if I can fit them into a stealth and sniper tau army.

True, bolters will eat your Vespids. However I wouldn't be so concernded about heavy bolters. They have AP 4 and should be aimed at firewarriors, but sure, the vespids are far more dangerous 'gainst marines. So i can't garanti you that they will.

That's why you hide them behind something big, a tank, othersquads or terrain.

    Unfortantly Vespids can't Deepstrike.
