The other day i came up with the crazy idea of having sort of an extremely mobile army, now I know that Tau are already mobile to the extreme, but what about the poor FireWarriors. I mean its unfair that the crisis suits and skimmers get to have all the fun, bouncin around on the battlefeild, and jumping in and out of cover. So what if you could field an army that had FW's with jump packs. Every unit would have a jump pack, with the exception of stealth suits, because a jump suit on a stealth suit would defeat the whole purpose of the STEALTH suit.
Any thoughts or ideas would be great, constructive criticism is welcomed. Thx.
Not sure where you are trying to get with this? If your talking about legal gaming, we already have devilfishes providing the mobility to our fire warriors, not to also mention if you are talking about fluffwise, that wouldn't even right..
Auto pilot I honestly have to wonder if youve ever bothered to read the Tau Codex.
The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
Why? It is a pretty wacked up idea, but where in the Codex does it say, FireWarriors can't have jumppacks.Originally Posted by Arpod

Stealth Suits DO have jump packs exactly like Crisis Suits
The Tyranid torpedo? Its a giant facehuger cannon. It fires an army of facehugers at the other ships. It should cause fear.
Yah those armies are called mech armies.......firewarriors just have to deal with being in devilfishes.
If that was legal and those firewarriors could also shoot with the pulse rifle then it would be the godliest troop choice of cheese. Come on....jump infantry and a big gun to boot? Its the reason why assault squads don't have bolters to jump, rapidfire, and then let another squad close by do the assaulting.
flying firewarriors are going to be about 25 points a piece I think.....but no. if you want an (illegal) army like that just take stealth suits as troops.
why do bikes get the troop choice option in SM codex and not assault marines? That is something I'm trying to figure out.

If you're complaining about firewarriors then I definately feel your pain. But I always mount them in a devilfish anyway, so it hurts less. Either you think they are underpowered and need some help (as I think), or you are one of the people who believe any aid would make them overpowered. I can't really say who is right, but I know that paying 10 points for them does not make me happy at all.
I don't see the point of giving jump packs to firewarriors. Every army that uses them, does so to get close to the enemy. If FWs had them, they could run away but neither the pulse rifle nor even the carbine would be useful at those ranges. Tau jetpacks would be a little better but they'd still be dangerously close to the enemy. The Devilfish isn't just a transport, it's an assault shield, too. No, I wouldn't put jump packs on my troops even if I had the option.

Why should we grant the Shas'la a jump pack?
They serve their purpose in the crux of the hunt. As do our Shas'Ui and others who have proven themselves worthy of more advanced hunt techniques.
((While I too would like to see the basic firewarrior strengthened, an all jump capable force is by default unorthodox and rare. Which is why the Crisis Suits can be fielded in units. In lower numbers than the basic Shas'la.))
