Welcome to Librarium Online!
I already play Dark Eldar but I used to play Eldar in 2nd edition many years ago. The only models I can find (after moving house several times) are a farseer and a few rangers. I was thinking of getting the battlebox which contains some guardians, falcon, some jet bikes a yvper and I think some form of HQ. I was wondering is it worth getting maybe two of these? I'm not at all interested in the jetbikes but I figure if I get 2 of these I will have enough troops, tanks and fast attack (vypers) to get some games going. I bought the Dark Eldar battle box and was dissapointed with the weapon sprew choices (no blasters or shredders for reavers) so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Eldar box?
It is an OK choice, if you can get them discounted, then yes go for it. If you can't then don't.
-2x boxes of guardians
-2x Starcannon platforms
Then decide what craftworld your leaning towards. If you want overall durability to your army maybe picking up 10x striking scorpions can take you somewhere.
The sprews for the vyper and the falcon don't give you any choices, which is kind of a bummer. However, the wave serpent sprew has all sorts of choices and if you order it from the GW site, those guns can be used for the vyper and falcon.
You have just recieved the Amish Computer Virus. Since the Amish don't have computers, it is based on the honor system. So please delete all the files from your computer. Thank you for you cooperation.

Just bought a box you get :
20 guardians (which is probably enough unless you intend on playing ver guardian heavy)
1 falcon it get's a pulse laser and a brightlance standard (could they have picked a losier weapon to put int here?)
1 Vyper with its standard shuriken cannon
3 bikes with nothing! Not even a shuriken cannon for one of those bikes..
It's a stupid box if you want the weapon options but with it if you buy a farseer and some warlocks, 2 weapon platforms you have an army!
Then just buy aspect warriors...
The Morbidos Fleet will reclaim the Eldar empire. This time there shall be no mercy. Let them choke in their own blood!
No, the falcon has a pulse laser (on its right hand side, it looks like a bright lance but is bigger and has teh targeting array on the opposite side) and a scatter laser on its left had side1 falcon it get's a pulse laser and a brightlance standard (could they have picked a losier weapon to put int here?)
Everything you have been told is a lie!
Really, I always assumed the pulse laser was the one like a scatter laser, and the other was a bright lance. TO be honest, it's too close to decide, though I take your point, and even in a tourney I'd doubt they'd disallow it.
This should be a good bow, if you can get it at a good discount on the GW prices. You need all of that stuff (some people don't like falcons, though I find them very good tactically, with the transport option). I'd guess you'd want at least one starcanno if not two, and the extra heavy weapons are only 1.50, and so if you kept one starcannon you would only need £3 worth of extras - that will probably still make this better value. You need extras, say 1 squad aspect warriors and some warlocks minimum, then a wraithlord or something, but it's a good start.

Ignore this person. What a waste of perfectly good oxygen. There are kids in Antartica or China or Korea or some other country that would kill for the oxygen you are wasting with each passing minute.
Really? The only people who typically do not like Falcons are the people who are fighting against them...
i hear that! i thought more people would not like the guardians or especially the jetbikes.Really? The only people who typically do not like Falcons are the people who are fighting against them...
Everyone makes mistakes. mine was to leave her head in the fridge.
It would be like saying a Lascannon is an Autocannon because they look similar, Cheredanine is right and you can't just interpret how a weapon looks in a tourney. Ask your local GW staff if you want to know which weapon is which, but they all look different.Originally Posted by The Marquis
Edit: Almost forgot, unless you mean to play Ulthwé or Codex, don't get the Battle Force. The only thing you get "free" is the jetbikes and you won't need them anyway unless you start to play Ulthwé Strike Force in the future.
The first thing you should do is decide on a Craftworld, then check out which units you need. Read what is written in the Eldar Tactica thread and all should be clear.

Warhammer Fantasy: Warriors of Chaos, High Elves
Warhammer 40k: Eldar, Space Marines, Orks
I disagree, if the jetbikes come free you may aswell get them as aposed to the other bits seperatly. The other bits are sound choices and could be incorporated into most armies.Originally Posted by Viktor
Personally, i would suggest get the box set. For a new player i would suggest getting a vanilla army together first and then specialising, if you want to, later. The vanilla lst will allow you to get a feel for the units and choices will giving you a solid core to fall back on if your choices dont work.
Thats what i did, and i havent lost yet!
