Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was wondering if people have had the chance to use a honour guard squad of fire warriors yet. How effective have people found them? is it worth the higher BS?
Thanks in advance
I was not aware of such a thing (new codex?), but higher BS for Fire Warriors sounds heavenly... and worth it in many scenarios :]
Gloria Imperator, The Firstborn Stand!
- 2000pts Inquisition, 2000pts Vostroyans, 3000pts Vampire Counts, 1400pts Daemons, [WIP] 2500pts Death Guard
Let's see; Firewarriors with fearless and hit on 3+s...but a full unit (no need for a shas'ui) would cost 224 points (with the Ethereal). They would not be worth it if they went in a devilfish; fearless makes little difference and that's too many points to lose for a single lucky shot.
I'm not sure if they are worth it...I'd have to check some serious statistics.
Yeah you can take fire warriors with an ethereal

Now listen up! Back in my day, we didn't have fancy tanks!
We had sticks. Two stick and a rock for the entire platoon! And we had to share the rock!
You should consider yourself very lucky marines!
I dont think you should be posting specific rules and points costs. I have the codex I was just wondering if people had tried the unit out and if they found it effective, but thanks for your input.Originally Posted by swift knife
Or you could just use a markerlight to get Firewarriors to hit on 3+ instead of wasting points on a useless ethereal
A markerlight hits roughly half the time. The BS pump is a sure thing. Pumping a full squad of FWs by the Honor Guard rule (ignoring the Ethereal) costs 6 points less than a Marker Drone with a networked markerlight, and the marker drone doesn't hit all the time. The Ethereal is invaluble in any case if your troops happen on getting shot at (basically all the time, unless you are mechanized). The Price of Failure ability does not threaten your forces that much, but is still painful. Don't underjudge an Ethereal.Originally Posted by Khobai
