    newbie

Okay, I'm new to the Tyranids and I have some questions. I ordered my codex but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm not asking for stats, but I want to build the figures and I need to know what loadout will be good.

I'm going for a swarm army with MC fire support. I've got a Carnifex with two Devourers and two of the other dual ranged weapon. I also have a stock unit of Termagants and a stock unit of Hormugants. I have yet to build my Genestealers, my second unit of Termagants, my second unit of Hormugants, and my unit of Warriors.

So how would you suggest I equip them to further my army's goals?

    da

Good point. My next purchase is planned to be a Hive Tyrant.

    Hive Tyrant Definetly~

3x Warriors (shooty or assaulty, your preference)
    Carnifex - shooty, awesome
Gaunts, you'll need a bunch. Make them all have Spinefists, they would be your typical mass units.
Hormogaunts, could have a few, very fast, pretty nice.
Genestealers will also be a great addition to your army, just equip them standardly, don't really need buffs on them.

    or should I say this:

    1x Hive Tyrant
    3x Warriors

    1xGenestealers

1x Squad Terma (spine fists preferred)
1x Squad Terma (spine fists preferred)
    1x Squad Hormo
    1x Squad Hormo

    1x Carnifex

I'd say maybe pick up a few more gaunts to feed your mass, and a 2nd carnifex to provide as another shooty bug. Hive Tyrant is nice, if you want him to be unkillable and shooty footslog, then get him some tyrant guard.

    possible

I tend towards versatility. Would it be overly bad to have one unit Spinefists and one unit Fleshborers? I have the Canifex range-geared and a pair of Hormugants, so no problem there. Would fleshborers/CC stuff work on the Warriors?

Genestealers are in progress and the Hive Tyrant is my next purchase. I was thinking a Winged medium-range loadout.

Be careful using a flying tyrant with your swarm army. It can keep up with all the little, fast, Tyranids. However, much more fragile than a walking tyrant with some tyrant guard providing a meat shield. You do not have a whole lot of synapse. That is scary when you rely on guants. Guants are insanely frustrating to deal with when out of synapse.

    hm...

Aren't Warriors synapse creatures? It seems like a couple groups would help and the Hive Tyrant could mostly be kept out of trouble if he hangs away a bit.

Warriors tend to get pegged early on by heavy bolter fire. Most people like to take them out for one reason or another. So don't expect your warriors to be the most active unit sense or a late game winner IMO.

    Zoanthropes

Is Warp Blast just a powerful cannonish ability? Like...psychic artillery? That's what it sounds like.

Actually, that would fit right in with my army concept.
