I was wondering how you pronounce tyranids. I say it like Tie-ranids but a lot of people at my GW say Tear-anids.
I have seen the Death Company: wild-eyed berserkers, who tear their enemys limb from limb, crush skulls with a single blow, snap spines and rip out organs. The Blood Angels are indeed ancient and terrible and only the foolish do not fear them.
I pronounce it Ti (as in tip) ranids, but others in my group use the tie-ranids, no one I know uses tear-ranids.Originally Posted by warmaster89
I base my pronunciation on the fact that words that end in ty are pronounced ti as on quality etc.
Sort of a middle-ground between "tir" (the 'i' as in "tin") and "teer", for the first syllable, which is also the syllable that get the emphasis. TIR-an-ids.
Why do the survivors remain anonymous -- as if cursed -- while the dead are revered? Why do we cling to what we lose while we ignore what we still hold?
Name none of the fallen, for they stood in our place, and stand there still in each moment of our lives.

Tyranid is officially pronounced with the "i" like tin. Like Tyrany, not like Tyrant. Just look at how it is spelled in Japanese (which has inflexible phonetics). And if you can't read japanese, just take my word for it.
tear-nids is me thanks
I pronounce it Teer-a-nids.
Just me though...
I pronounce it "BOW DOWN PUNY FOOD BEFORE THE MIGHT OF THE SWARM! MOO HOO HA HA!"
And then people throw dice at me.
Quote for probably forever 'cause it rocks:
"Slaughter them, men, and bring me their hats."
