I dont glue my weapons in my heavy weapons and that kind of thing so that I can switch them depending on the situation. Have you had someone refuse to play against models where you've done that calling it an unfinished model?
I glue mine but you could use some sort of Glue that easily parts with the Plastic. Or jus keep them on with Blu-tack.
Anyone who says that shouldn't be playing and is a bloody rules-lawyer. If they bitch about that, pack up your stuff and leave.
Yeah, don't play with people like that, they tend to be sore losers.
It's not Raymond Luxury Yacht, It's pronounced throat wobbler mangrove.

My elvish name is Maeglin Meneldur.
i agree, let them try to find someone that plays like they do, they'll be lookin for ages. I dun glue ne heavy weapons on either, leaves space for change and adaptment to new enemy
I don't care about all that wysiwyg crap... I glued Eldar Missile Launchers on my platforms, and I call them Starcannons. That's what GW gave me in the Blister, and I'm not paying extra money for something I should have gotten in the first place. Most people don't notice the difference, and those that do usually don't care. If they do, I tell them that GW gave me the wrong pieces in the Blister (who the hell wants a scatter laser on a platform?)
if you have the extra weapon bits, try to use the rare earth magnets. they rock on dreads!
i didnt glue the melta or heavy bolter to my land speeder so i could interchange them, i don't see any problem with it, i think i wouldn't be anywhere near strict when it comes to wysiwyg unless it is clearly not modeled (a bulky csm lord would have accurately modelled termi armor in my eyes) but some people wouldn't like it

I don't glue my Hvy Wpns on my Wraithlord so I can switch between the Star Cannon and Scatter Laser. Most people don't care, as long the weapon stays on the models.

As long as the weapons are represented (not necessarily the exact GW bit) and are distinguishable from other weapon types. Take for instance... I used to play a DE guy who took several ravagers and raiders in his army. The problem was, they all looked exactly the same. Then, some time in the battle he'd let me in on what each vehicle was and what weapons it had.
If you really trust someone, you can do this. But, it plants the seed of doubt and that seed can blossum into ugliness real quick.
So... Don't glue your weapons. But, make sure you do have something there to represent the weapon on game day and it is clearly different from other weapons. It's always curteous to state at the beginning of the battle what each (incorrectly modeled) figure is and what weapons it has.
I do this with my emperor's children vehicles all the time, mostly because GW hasn't made any models for the sonic blaster, blastmaster, doom siren, or warp amps that my vehicles take.
Jack of all trades, master of none.
