    Flayed Ones - Redux

In this thread, let's discuss possible suggestions for changing Necron Flayed Ones. I would like to stress that suggestions should be realistic, both with respect to tactics and fluff. Suggestions that require the introduction of some new Necron technology should be strongly avoided as that raises all sorts of new arguements. Additionally, arguements against a suggestion should be respected and addressed, but the ultimate goal to this thread, and others like it, is to come up with some viable changes.

-- Add ability Furious Charge: a fluffy fit for these Necrons that are maddened with desire for their fleshly bodies but are satified wearing the flesh of others.

    -- Claws are Rending.

    -- Troop choice.

    -- Cost increase: 27pts/model.

GW would never do that. Way to many points for a troop squad. a squad of 10 would be 270 points... Two squads of 10 would be 540. (Sorry for stating obvious math.) Now true... You don't have to take two squads of 10, but I think as troops you probably would, or you'de be blown apart by massed firepower because of small numbers.

True. Then I say leave 'em as elites, Warriors are the core of the army anyway, take your 2 Troops selections from there and get on with the elites.

Flayed Ones should be a 0-3 Troops choice and cost 17 points each. They should otherwise remain unchanged.

Rending claws would make Flayed Ones way too powerful. Necrons arn't supposed to be as good as Genestealers in Close Combat.

I again go with a rule that acts the same way as heavy weapons.

This way the Ld 10 armies (coincidentally most have a 3+ save) can still be affected by the warriors with claws. So their most important ability is nearly useless, but they can still do some damage in cc. Armies with lower leadership normally don't have 3+ saves, so the heavy weapon rule does nothing and the terrifying visage comes into effect.

All I'd do is make them a troops option, but with a reqirement of a minimum of 2 Warrior squads first.
Pretty simple, but effective in keeping warriors the mainstay of the army

I don't see how that would change things much except that you could have a higher ratio of FOs to Warriors to Immortals.

    Rending claws, bare minimum.

You don't want to make them overpowered though, all you want to do is make them more usefull. With the abilities they already have they are pretty powerful to start with, adding rending (why does everyone want everything rending?) would make them ridiculously nigh unbeatable
They can already deepstrike, infiltrate, move through cover, and terrify the enemy......why would they also need rending?
