I got news. I am soon to be facing that Eldar jetbike and viper army I fogret the name of it. Anyway. My oponent told me this is his newest army so I have time to prepare, but what should I field against them? I have some Carnifexes waiting to be put to good use, I was thinknig of using 2 Devourers on each one. Those and a Hive Tyrant with a vemon cannon would be enough wouldn't they? Any suggestions?
I own almost all the Tyranid models and have plently of each, so please make some suggestions. (no bio-vores, only 1 Zoanaphrope and no fast attack.)

Ok I know a guy who has an army like the one you have described...although I've never played Eldar with Tyranids. The big thing I can tell you is that you should shoot towards more shooty Carnifexes and a split army.
The Vypers are the big thing to worry about being able to carry some dangerous weapons including the Bright Lance, which I believe can cause automatic death to any creature (excluding the C'tan Nightbringer). So they are the first of your targets for the carnifexes. However you must watch out for the fact that I think you need 6's to hit in CC. So personally I'd pop some venom cannons and barbed stranglers on you carnifexes.
Against the bikes though, I'd have to say get plenty of Hormagaunts with toxin sacs. This way you will be able to move as fast as the bikes (so as to get to them easier) and in CC you hit on 3's wound of 4's. If you kill off the Vypers early, you should then target the bikes first firing the barbed strangler so as to get multiple bike and then the venom cannon.
I hope I helped just a bit. Any other people who post please clarify anything I may have mistaken.

Potentially, yes.Originally Posted by general jiggerNo - Bright Lances are just very mean to tanks. Against any other model they're just a run of the mill heavy weapon.Originally Posted by Commisar_Malevich
My suggesstion is Devourers on as many Carnifeci as you can manage, and two Tyrants with Venom Cannon & Dev combos. Some Biovores might also be handy, if you manage to find them a safe spot to hang out in.
Broods of termagants are surprisingly useful against armour 10 vehicles. Only a 12" range, but you can certainly field a lot of them for 6pts each. With large numbers (two or three broods of 10+) you can just about rely on a steady stream of glancing hits. At the very least you can use them to deny large areas of the board to the skimmers.
If this is a Saim hann army your in for a whole heap of pain, the eldar jetbikes are a serious pain in the ass they can jump out shoot you and then get behind cover, the Vipers are easier, If your opponent knows his stuff he will have a couple of standard troop choices with wave serpants and then your in trouble.Originally Posted by User_42
I use a 2000pt ultra fast nid list with loads of rending and the only army i lose regularly to is my mates Saim hann, they are just so hard to catch.
I would recommend plenty of shooting, (gah I hate shooty nid lists) tyrant with 2 twin linked devourers, Carnies with barbed stranglers and venom cannons and plenty of fast cheap hormies to try to catch a few of the bike squads and deal with troops, if he does take serpents well thats gonna be tough, cos VC are crap against them, me I take skimmmers down with rending but its hard.
I would also make sure the Tyrants and carnies have 2+ saves to give them some toughness and allow extra shooting.
Good luck, sorry to sound so bleak but Saim Hann are evil against nids and without some fast units you will struggle, give warriors leaping and devourers.
One last point barbed stranglers on the carnie are awesome against open topped vehicles and low save troops (4+ and higher) remember bikes are in squads so you can ususlly catch one or two and against SV5 eldar the template kills droves, but devis are good as well twin linked x2 is awesome your choice, good luck
I would suggest the venom cannon as well, because it is evil against vypers and such. Heck, on a carnifex it is just plain great - though a bit less so against Eldar due to spirit stones. The devourers will help you against the jetbikes, because of the huge volume of shots.
A Saim Hann army is going to drive you completely up the wall at times. They will move all over the place, staying out of reach and peppering you with shooting that can be nasty. You will lean to hate starcannons. Do not make the mistake of trying to go after everything at once. Try boxing him in with your forces so that he cannot slip away along the board edge and continue to shoot you to pieces.
Tyranids: Hive Fleet Kohr-Ah
okay some things to remember about eldar. Alot of their weapons are AP1 AP2 so EC is about usless on so many models. Good news about that is that u can put those points u would have in EC into more models to field. This will give you a great number advantage. Deny cover as much as possible. That is all i got.
First to clarify a couple of points...
Vypers, while being open topped, are skimmers that will be moving 6"+ a turn.. so you won't be penetrating them. Not unless you can stun it and then hit again the next turn.
And Bright Lances are the least of your worries. Sure, it's str8 ap2, but only 1 shot a turn. It can't insta-kill TMCs. What he's thinking of is the wraith cannon that Wraithguard carry (not the Wraithlord, but Wraithguard, the T5 infantry). A 6 to wound from a wraithcannon sucks its target into the warp, insta-killing anything it just hit. Even synapse, and even a C'tan.
Now, how many points is this? At 1500+, try to get around 3-4 fex and 2 tyrants if you can fit it in. Don't bother with a 2+ save, as most eldar weapons are either ap5 or ap1-2... other than dark reapers, of course. Get the T7 upgrade for the fex for sure, though. Makes those nasty star cannons wound on 5's. For weaponry, take 1-2 fex with 2xtl-devourers and 2 fex with a VC/BS combo. Take 2xtl-devourers on your tyrants, too (one walking one flying). Assaulting tyrants won't be able to hit the skimmers reliably enough.
Just make sure to watch out for Mind War, if your opponent takes a farseer with it. Man do I hate that power :p
