What do you all think about this version of warriors. Purely anti-infantry but they send alot of shots down range and re-roll misses and wounds. Although 18" is rather short range supporting a brood of termies could help immensely IMO. They run at 38 pts with TS, EC, ES, and the Twn Lnk Devs. So what does everyone else think?
A squad of 3 warriors will send 12 S4 shots and they cost 114pts.
For 113pts you can get a devilfex with EC and 2 x twinlinked devourers and it will send out 8 S6 shots... now I havent done the math, but I'm guessing then devilfex is more cost effecient.
Alternatively you could go for a deviltyrant with TS and 2 x twinlinked devourers, it will send 12 S5 shots and all for the price of 111pts, and if you pay 121pts you get BS4 too.
The way I see it warriors are just about the worst choice for twinlinked devourers.
true but they do provide synapse and I already have a decent number of 'fexs baiscally I was planning on having a 3 warrior brood one with a barbed strangler and 2 with twn lnk devs. Although statistically I see your point. I basicly have two warriors sitting around collecting dust and I was trying to find an interesting roll for them.
I find them very usefull, I have a brood of 6 of them and sofar they have performed well, keeping my slower moving fire support units in check and making sure that any unit that falls back will have a synapse shield to pick them up.
Shooty warriors just don't survive that well and they are slow. The shooty setup you mentioned is probably the best for them though some would suggest giving them rending claws. You can probably spend the same amount on 2 Zoanthropes and have something that stands up to heavy bolters. I have found the best Warrior brood is 4 with EC, ST, RC, +init & leaping. They are not as good as genestealers but they do give you synapse support.Originally Posted by Raginrok
I have used them. They did okay against weak infantry, like imperial guard and dark eldar. However, any sort of space marines were complete death to them. I will be honest and say it was usually a powerfist or power weapon doing the real damage, but without rending claws I had no good way to give back in melee.
For shooty warriors I would always suggest taking rending claws in addition to one ranged weapon. Rending is just too good not to have.
Usually I field straight melee warriors, but the other alternate config is rending claws, ranged weapon (devourer, deathspitter, venom cannon), extended carapace, toxin sacs, and enhanced senses.
Tyranids: Hive Fleet Kohr-Ah
yeah I'm slowly going to build a brood of Raveners so I won't need CC Warriors. I know raveners won't provide synaps but they are more attacks and can move just as well if not better then winged warriors. I think I'm going to keep my Twin Dev Warriors for the shear fun of them and if I get a really fleshy army then throw them in. Thanks for the advice guys.
I agree with you Rag about the Raveners... and they do usually move faster than the CC warriors with leaping.....seeing as how they have the Fleet rule and a 12" assault.
I personally use my winged tyrant as synapse support for my hormiesfor round 1 and by turn two my CC warriors are in range to take over as my tyrant can move off in another directions to take care of problems.
