Welcome to Librarium Online!
I remember ages ago reading something on Tyranid Monstorous Creature Design rules lying around... it works almost exactly like Vehicle design (VDR). Wonder if it is just my pure imagination, or i just seen this from house design rules... or something? And also wondering if its still true.. if its still valid
That was a very interesting way of making completely diverse nid armies back in third edition. Since theres a new codex out I doubt those rules are still 'legal' but there are players, especially some vets, who would let you use the nid design tables of the third edition codex...

Actually the rules were in an old White Dwarf and were reprinted in the 2004 Chapter approved book. I can almost guarantee that they are not legal anymore. If I am wrong on this great for me and the rest of the tyranid players out there. The rules are meant for designing huge creatures though, mostly gargantuan and super heavy types. You can make Carnifex sized ones too and even twink out and make a flying carnifex but you wouldnt be able to use it anywhere with the exception of your home games. Even then I doubt one of your friends will let you use the flying carnifex more than once after he gets hammered by it
Hmmm I guess they aren't legal anymore..
I remebmer seeing some crazy beasts which could output about 8+ krak missile equivalent shots per round, which made me go crazy on designing bugs hah.
Thanks for the reference~
The rules do exist but many technicalities have changed. Some explanations for the creatures rules are in the old codex. Only veteran players are likely to use it and then only if it adds a new dimension to a game. Scratch built imperial titan VS tyranid titan smack down for example.
