Welcome to Librarium Online!
We all know that during a game, the drones on the small crappy stands can be pretty annoying. They keep falling off, and are pretty hard to put back on...
So who the hell decided to make the Sniper Drones completely metal?! It makes no sense!
Not to mention all the new equipment for Crisis suits is metal. Gah....couldn't they make it all plastic?!
well you can glue your drones down, and you can put the arms on the battlesuit before you put on the weapon, but i see where your coming from. I dont know why they did it though, maybe its cause they like shiny things?
loves the funeral for hearts.
Yeah, I hate how a lot of the new stuff is metal... why do they even make metal models... they're so annoying @_@

I think... because it doesnt cost them too much more money to use metal.. they allready have the infrastructure to make metal bits, and they know they can charge MORE for metal products.
Personally? I think they should switch over to all plastics.
Here they are bragging about all their new Plastic's technology and yet, they are still charging their customer base an Arm and a Leg for stuff that doesnt cost much at all.
I think at this point though, its falling into the realm of greed based production. They are doing what they can for the cheapest cost, to get the most gain.
From their perspective? They could care less if your Sniper Drone breaks its stand. That just means your likely to buy more stands.
You should use hard wire (don't know the actuall name for it in english) to pin them to the baces instead of those plastic things that comes with them. The most annoying thing is that the holes in the drones is all to small for the stands....
If something goes wrong, blame Gav Thorpe.
You'd be surprised just how accurate automatically assuming he's had his fell hand in something is.

Limited run models are going to continue to be metal for a while.
As has been noted, it takes a lot more effort and coin to get a proper plastic run going than a metal mold, particularly when you plan to have a lot of detail on the model. (Even with their special process for plastics..)
Admittedly, for models that they plan to make a ton of, plastics are actually cheaper for them in the long run.
So, by this argument, I guess I'm saying that GW model making powers that be don't think that they'll be selling enough Tau drone snipers to set up a plastic run.
