Hello I picked up BfM a little while ago and loved it so much that i had to buy a REAL wh40k army. After looking at all of the other armies i decided that Necrons were the best and have bought the Codex, Battleforce, and Lord on foot. My friend is also statring and we plan to play games in the 750-1000 point range to start with. Does anyone have suggestions for what i should buy nest and how my army should be set up? I would like to use as much from the battleforce as possible so I don't have to buy much more before I start playing.
Thanks a bunch,
That's a very good start, and everything in the battleforce is worth having. I would even suggest getting another one, after that you might want to get some immortals. alot of necrons is personal prefference, basically everything they have is good if you use it correctly.

How come everybody else on this forum has 400 wins to 2 loses? I smell cheese.... and beef... sandwich!
What was Rogal Dorn doing when the Sanguinius and the Emporer got killed???
Woohoooo I killed the treeman!!! :)
I killed the Glade riders too!!!! :)
immortals yes, flayed ones also can do a lot of damage (as I felt). and a couple of more scarabs to fill up the squad.

I gotta agree with Donut. You can't go wrong with getting another battle force. You'll need the extra warriors eventually and having two squads of 3 Destroyers is nice. After that, what ever you add is up to your playing style. But for a safe bet, the most effective things to buy would be a squad of Immortals and a Monolith. All that will take you to 1500+ range. Good luck with the crons.
One thing, try to avoid pariahs as they are really poor.
Personal prefference. If you can use Pariahs effectivly, they are a huge boon to any force. I would suggest against buying them immediatly though. Another battleforce and Immortals would be my first choice. You can always proxy units to test them before shelling out GWs prices for them.Originally Posted by The_Outsider

Thanks everyone, you guys just confirmed what I was thinking. From what I saw it looked like I needed to get more warriors, and the Battleforce is such a good deal. I'll think that I'll stay away from the pariahs for a while and probably will pick up the Immortals when I get more cash.
So far, In other turn-based army games I've played I do better with shooty armies, so Necrons seemed the best bet.
Necrons have 3 things that will always win you the game.
Now, you have to have a large amount of warriors to hold the line and draw fire, but in all my games(I would say I have played over 30, and have never lost(at lest with my crons)), its my destroyers that do the damage in the first 2 turns, my immortals that weaken the squads in turn 3, and my Warriors that finish off the weakened unit.
Now I did not talk about Scarabs, but i think Scarab are the best unit in the game. I take 10 of them, Without fail. 10 Scarabs are 30 wounds, 40 attacks on the charge, and can rip a tank to pieces, and all that for 160 points. They can also kill ICs becuse of there speed, and the sweet outumbering rule(10 bases count as 30 for out numbering reasons).
I have never used Flayed Ones, or any of the new units, as I use a older list based around my 10 Destroyers,10 Immortals and 10 Scarabs.
Now, alot about necrons is your style of play, I use massed firepower to kill anything that moves, and worry about objectives in the last turn, as necrons are truly the fastest army in the game(I have 20 models that move 24" and my Immotals can move anywhere).
But to answer your question, a 2nd battleforce box would give you a good boost, then i would work on getting 10 Immortals. you can convert these guys from adding a Scarab onto the back of a warrior and glue a 2nd rod on the bottem of there gun. it does not look that bad. I would never field any less them 8 Immortals, as they can die easily if someone wants them dead enough.
About tactics, one thing that you have to remember is that no matter what, your army should stay together for the first few turns. The second a warrior squad walks away from the rest of the army, it loses ALOT of the benifits of the army, you cant get out of combat easily, its easy to hit them with S8 weapons, or power weapons, and cant use WBB if the whole squad is wiped out.
About Lords, you really should have a classic lord(lord, orb, Viel). this guy at 200 points will never get his points cost back, so dont expect him to, but he will make your warrior almost unkillable, and gives you the abilty to get out of combat, and let that combat squard face 20 very angry Necrons. A 2nd lord is very handy with just a orb, as when your Vile lord teleports something, your army is not left without the Orb.
Ok, i think I have said enough, so I might go.
