hi all, just wondering what your all set up for a good seer council is. what do you put in it? are they really suppose to be this expensive? lets hear it.

there are many ways to set up the council, it is a versitile unit. it really depends on the rest of your army.

if i play ulthwe, i try and keep my council small and supporting:
    farseer w/spear, fortune
    farseer w/spear, mind war
    warlock w/witchblade&pistol, embolden
    warlock w/witchblade&pistol, enhance
    warlock w/ccw&pistol, augment
    warlock w/ccw&pistol, augment

that's 243. occasionally i'll up the bodies by dropping the witchblades for ccw. it serves the same purpose. a second fortune never goes amiss either. i've seen councils with three fortunes, embolden and enhance and all ccws marching up the middle of the battlefield with two 20 man concealed guardian units. suprisingly hard.

3 Fire Prisms with Crystal Targeting Matrix, 3 Farseers with Guide, a bunch of Warlocks. Then just have them all hang out with one annother, and watch the fun happen.

Oh, 3 twin-linked almost star cannons for like 800 pts. :shifty:

This is the council I use all the time:

Farseer: Witchblade, SP, RoWi, Ghosthelm, Fortune
Farseer: Witchblade, SP, RoWi, Ghosthelm, Guide, Mind War
    2-3 Warlocks: CCW, SP, Augment
    Warlock: CCW, SP, Enhance
    Warlock: CCw, SP, Embolden

    Cheap and effective.

I find warlocks with CCWs or without powers *painfully* unfluffy, so I use this setup:

    Seer Council (261):

    Farseer
    + Power: Fortune
    + Witchblade
    + Pistol
    Farseer
    + Power: Mind War
    + Witchblade
    + Pistol
    Farseer
    + Power: Mind War
    + Witchblade
    + Pistol
    Warlock
    + Power: Agument
    + Witchblade
    + Pistol
    Warlock
    + Power: Agument
    + Witchblade
    + Pistol
    Warlock
    + Power: Enhance
    + Witchblade
    + Pistol

The councils rule is mainly to kill of characters and MCs with their mind war. The setup is not very effective, but it is fluffy, and thats what really counts IMO. The seer council is in dire need of an upgrade, as fluffy councils are anything but battleworthy, but that matter is not to be discussed here.

I like my council eventhough it suck, because it at least is fluffy.

Sareld's council is IMO best suited for being carried in a Falcon though, since there are no meat shields to suck up wounds and all the points are focused into 6 models. Perfect for a Falcon, and that's what you intended right?

Indeed. I usually throw them in a falcon, and transports them to a nice safe location within 36" of the enemy, and have the falcon pull them out again right before the enemy charges them.. it usually works okish, but the witchblades make the squad a lot more expensive than their actual value. In fear of starting a rant about what I want in the new dex, I would be a lot more satisfied it the wichblades were 5 points each, they are not worth anymore than that on our seers, who are poor fighters.

5 pts for a wound on 2+ weapon thats way to cheap

    but back on topic

since you are using a seer council never and i mean never buy spirit stones instead buy a another farseer and you should always buy a fotune and runes of wintnessing for one farseer everything its up to you but me personaly i never have singing spears they arent great at thorwing because you can only glance and to only get one attack in cc witch blades are much better

buy hey thats just my opinion

DE poison blades does just that, and guess what they cost? I know that the WBs are also useful against vehicles, but that advantage is balanced out by the poor fighting skills of the potential users..

    My seer council is this:

Farseer, witchbl, SP, Fortune, runes of witn.
    Farseer, witchbl, SP, Mindwar
    Warlock, witchbl, SP, Augment
    Warlock, witchbl, SP, Enhance
    Warlock, witchbl, SP, Embolden

This is 245 pts and cc orientated. But I'm not really happy with it I must say.

Mainly because they suck in CC. They last but hardly kill. I used a 198 council with the warlocks just having ccw but this version is allready a vast improvement.

I really think there are a few options that NEED to be on your council no matter what their role.

Fortune on at least one farseer

Embolden on at least one warlock.
At the cheapest your council is still gonna be like 200 pts+, you don't want them to run. Bad rolls happen but for ten points they get re-rolled.

The gear and powers on a council always depends on their role and well, I'm switching mine.

    I'm now thinking about:

Farseer, ccw, SP, Fortune, runes of witn.
Farseer, ccw, SP, Guide, runes of witn.
Farseer, ccw, SP, Fortune, runes of witn.
Warlock, ccw, SP, Augment, runes of witn.
Warlock, ccw, SP, Augment, runes of witn.
    Warlock, ccw, SP, Embolden

257 pts is this. It fit's a falcon and can boost different squads. I like em flexable.
The Morbidos Fleet will reclaim the Eldar empire. This time there shall be no mercy. Let them choke in their own blood!
