Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm still new to tau and I'm just getting the hang of ML's.
I have fielded a pathfinder squad with them, but smart opponents blast the crap outta the squad and they dont last long enough to help.
I have used them on my fw shas'ui before, but I am unsure if these lights are "networked" or is the FW squad the only one that can benefit from it?
How else do you place ML's in your army for maximum effect?
THe way I see it, I wouldn't bother, you don't wanna be handy capping yourself by 'depending' on MLs to work. I'd rather spend the points spent on Seekers, Skyrays, Pathfinders and any Markerlights on 'uis and Marker Drones to be spent on more things that deal with death.
Not saying MLs don't and will never work for poeple, mind you.
I've found that the small the army, the more effective markerlights are. I find that the best place to put them is on static Shas'ui with a target lock, Pathfinder teams (obviously), and maybe a DSing stealth team. The best place to put them is in cover and/or a place that is easily accessible to the rest of your army.I have fielded a pathfinder squad with them, but smart opponents blast the crap outta the squad and they dont last long enough to help. No, they arn't. The only way a squad of Fire Warriors has access to a networked markerlight is through the horrendously expensive marker drone.I have used them on my fw shas'ui before, but I am unsure if these lights are "networked" or is the FW squad the only one that can benefit from it?

YAY for markerlights!!!! I give 1 to each of my fire warriors squads. Great for bumping up the BS. I never depend on them but they help. And if you use them in your plans then make sure to have a few. To be honest I'm not a fan of pathfinders so that cuts that down. I plan to get a couple of marker drones for my broadsides(Double as protection) and maybe some marker drones for my fire warrior squads. I find it's not worth giving most units markerlights as manouverability is important. I guess one could experiment with advanced stabilisation and markerlights. But that'd be a pretty expensive markerlight. Sniper drones come with a networked markerlight which is pretty handy as their stealth generator keeps them from being targeted for the first wee while generally. Anyway I've gone on long enough. Hope I managed to say something useful.

the double posting!! AHHH!!!
I ALWAYS take a unit of pathfinders. every time my opponent starts to focus his attention on them, i jump out with a crisis squad and inflict 4 or so wounds on one of his favorate units, then my crisis suits run away and my pathfinders then markerlight his HQ unit and get it railguned/sniped/other bad for him thing.
i need to find something interesting to put here
Ok Scotty, jokes over... NOW BEAM UP MY CLOTHES!
