im currently making a zilla army and i cant figure out if i want to use the raveners or the spine rippers.

raveners shoot with 12" range as the rippers and they both assault 12"
i use the rippers as a bumper zone in front of my MC so they dont get assaulted at they are all shooting. i use the raveners as table cornere holders and for flanking with mass shooting. i just cant figure out if i want more spine rippers or keep the raveners.
any ideas, or for thoes out there that have had expierence with the two let me know what is better.

In zilla nid lists, ripper swarms work well as troops because they fit in with the theme of the army. This is because they are hard to kill from small arms due to their 3 wounds, and generally move at the same pace of the rest of the army.
Ravaners can work too, but are fragile, so you have to be careful with them. WHen deep striking them, deep strike in cover if possible, and then you can assault the next turn.These are way overloaded - even in a godzilla list. Slim them down.spine rippers,

I use Raveners in my swarm because I have a fast assult Tyranid list. Lots of hormagaunts, spinegaunts, leaping warroirs, flying Hive tyrant and infiltrating Brood Lord.
My 3 fast attack slots are filled out with 1 raviner for each slot, I do this because (mass multi targets) if the enamy wants to shoot my raveners (which are easy to hide now) they get massive over kills beacuse they have wasted a whole units shots to kill 1 revener.
My Raveners are great, but your rippers are sounding good to, especially since they move with the rest of your swarm at the same speed but also have that handy leaping skill, plus their cheeper than raveners and the Godzila list needs cheep troop slots so they can fill out there Carnifexs more.

im thinking i might just go with 60 ripper bases then i got 60 points left i got to figure out where to put. any sujestions. the only thing is though 60 ripper bases is a lot of rippers. what do you think are the best upgrades for them to keep them cheep. keep in mind i am using them as a buffer so my MC wont get tied up in combat.
Really, no upgrades can work fine and its cheap. Don't count on them to destroy anything, but they will certainly soak up some fire and tie units up in close combat. Maybe leaping could help get them into combat.
well this is what i think that im going to be using,
x18 rippers with,
adneral glands (ws)
2 squads of 9
x24 rippers with.
3 squads of 8
im going to use the two squads of 9 as a buffer zone so my MC dont get assaulted and then with the 3 squads of 8 im going to come around from the side and blow the crap out of anything that is in close range, or use them to assualt in as they have the strength to back up anything in close combat.
