Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was playing in a tournyment with one of my friends, and he had a SPace marine Chaos army, or something liek that, and he had an HQ with a weapon that he claimed installkilled anything on one hit, and did so to my nightbringer. IS this true, shouldnt there be some rule to prevent something like that from happening? his 220pt HQ or wahtever killed a 360pt Nightbringer, i dont knwo it just seems a bit unfair.

It could be the special Character Abbadon The Despoiler, with his Daemon Sword Drachn'yen. That can kill anything in one.
Either that or a Plague Sword weilded by a Nurgleite can kill anything it wounds on a 4+, sort of like a Force Weapon.
If its Abaddon then he still had to hit. I would try to avoid him and pop him off at range, he's immune to instant death so whittle him down.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
I don't know of anything that can instakill with out meeting the 2x toughness rule, (though I could be wrong). I think your "friend" was pulling a fast one on you. When ever you think someone may be misusing the rules, don't be afraid to ask to see his codex. Just ask him to show you the rule. If he can't, don't let him use it. If your at a tourney, call for an official if one is available.
The poster before this one talks about some things that may be able to instakill anything. I'd still ask to see the codex entry. I just read the Chaos Codex and the sword of Abbadon the Despoiler can kill a character out right. It says it ignores armor saves, but I would think you'd still get the C'tan inv save.

I failded my invulnerable save, but it jsut seems soo wrong for a C'tan especially the nightbringer to be killed in one hit... i dont know but i htink gw should make him immune to it when the next necron codex comes out....

there are many things in this game that can instant kill, forceweapons come to mind and as well as plage swords but if he was indeed using Abbadon then well he was playing by the rules and i think he is about 255pts dont have my codex with me and he can instant kill anything with that sword but he has to hit with it and he only has one shot, but what would you expect from the Chaos lord of all chaos lords!!.
I've gotta agree with you. I just doesn't seem fluffy that anything should be able to put down a living God in one shot. Especially a living god that costs 360 points (or what ever it is the deceiver costs). Oh well...i'm sure there are a few necron rules that some people have a problem with :shifty:
Unfortunatley, like said before, he could've been instant killed by Abbaddon (spelling?) or a Plague Sword.
I also agree that its unfluffy for the Nightbringer/Deceiver to be destroyed in a single blow.
It is very hard for a C'tan to suffer instant death, being T8 you have to be S5 minimum just to be able to wound it (on a 6+). Abbadon's daemon sword only gets 1 attack so it could be hit and miss (no pun intended).
It is unfluffy that C'tan can be squished by certain weapons but it does take something special to wound them in the first place.
Anyway, doesn't the plague sword say it only works on living things? since the C'tan are energy I would say they are exempt from that.
Read the entry of Necrodermis on page 27 of the Necron Codex.
The Necrodermis in fact can be turned into a Chaos Spawn on a roll of 6 for
Gift of Chaos!
I'm not sure if the C'tan can be instantly killed in anyway? I haven't got my codex on me but im sure it states they're imune to instant death?
If not Abaddon is your most likely candidate and is still 255 points. It is a bit harsh your nightbringer died in one hit but Abaddon still needs to wound you on a 6.
Other then that Drach'nyen only gets one attack. Make sure your opponant wasn't using all of his attacks using it. The others are made using his lightning claw.
