Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have recently started playing Tau, and they are a lot of fun. I was wondering, if anyone could tell me which I should buy next to help balance my army out a bit (I want some artillery);
A hammerhead tank, broadside battlesuit, or a Sky ray
I currently have:
2x 12 firewarrior squads with drones and markerlight
3 Stealth suits
1 devilfish with seeker missiles
2 XV8 battlesuits, one with anti-infanty weapons (my commander), the other with anti-tank weapons (his bodygaurd)
Worth about 1000 pts total

I'd say a Hammerhead - Versatile and very hard hitting.
for future reference, In 1500 it would be worth taking 1 or maybe 2 Broadsides, but I wouldn't take a Sky Ray in anything below 2000 points - I'd want to spend the points on more worthwhile things.
Hope that helps.
Alright, thanks. Thats the one I was considering anyways, but I just wanted to make sure if it was good or not.
And after you've bought a hammerhead or some broadside battlesuits, get one unit of pathfinders....the new markelight options is really great. Pathfinders work best in two teams though, then they can pin down even the most stalwart of enemies (as long as they are not fearless).
Other good things to get is of course more firewarriors and some piranhas!
Hammerhead. I'd say they're almost as important to Tau armies as Battlesuits...

I would go Hammerhead. If you buy a broadside, get 3 so u do not have an incomplete squad just sitting there untill you finally get 3.
i need to find something interesting to put here
Ok Scotty, jokes over... NOW BEAM UP MY CLOTHES!
I have three broadsides (the cool Forgeworld models), and I never group them in a unit of 3 (though I do play static). I usually have a squad of two with shield drones and a third by himself (with shield drones) or not in the game. Three broadsides are rediculous for destroying one tank. - One man in a squad is not good, only decent if he is ignored and in good cover.
- Two man squad is ideal, for not being a point sink, especially if the team leader gets a HW target lock.
- Three man squad is almost impervious to fire, but a juicy close combat target. It also waists some railguns some turns just because there are so many of them.
I would say to go with the Hammerhead just because it is far more versatile. If you want to go with pure tank killing power then you should go with Broadsides. Don't take a Sky Ray, period. With only 6 Shots in a game it just isnt worth it.
Unless you're packing 3 of them and 3 pathfinder teams to shoot off every seeker missile on turn 1...Originally Posted by xstashmarkx
