Welcome to Librarium Online!
Alright folks, here's the deal. As i'm sure most of you already know, The Fall of Medusa V campaign is right around the corner. I heard about it at my local gamesworkshop store and I am very psyched about a campaign done on a totally global scale. This is a chance to not only prove to everybody out there which army is TRULY the best but also a chance for us to finally get something close to being called a 'special' character: The Death Leaper.
As it stands I've been told by several people that on campaigns of this size, or even of a national size there will be a much better result for an army as a whole IF we get our act together online. The imperial guard section of the forums already has 300 regiments recruited! I'm looking for people who are interested in getting together and formulating a game plan. Not in the forums as it's obvious people can spy :ninja: So we need to find a solid way to put up a unified front to TOTALLY rock this campaign.
I am fairly new to 'nids, and haven't played a game since the new codex was out (which i have mentioned in a previous post as well as most of the information here as well) so I'll also probably need serious help.
If you are interested, reply to this post and we can find a way to organize it all over MSN or yahoo or even another forum.
Let's do this as a whole and blow everyone including the Tau away.
what kind of info are you needing?
Well first off, I'd like to know if anyone else is going to join the campaign. So that maybe when more information on the campaign is available we can formulate a plan as well as help out people like myself who are relatively inexperienced so that even they can put up a good showing.
I've been reading up on all the tactics you provide and hopefully if I can get enough painting done (my god, painting 100 odd models really really really sucks) i'll be able to test them out at my local workshop at least a few times before the campaign starts in july.
I've never played City fight style games and since CoD is going to most likely be the majority of the campaign (from what the people at my local workshop have said) any information to help me start figuring out if i need to buy more models and what configuration to put them in would be nice. Not to mention what i Really should be looking out for. Maybe even a few quick mentions of little mistakes that are often made by rookies so that I don't do it myself.
But most important is trying to figure out how many people are actually going to be campaigning. Since the IG have 300 odd regiments, I think that the nids need to get some stuff in gear to do as best as we can and show the world who's boss.
We are a lot too .... but not as many as the SM. Over 50% of the GW sales are SM => More ppl with SM will play the campaing=> less chances for the Hive Mind
I really don't get what you're trying to do. Just because people have posted on a message board doesn't mean that GW is going to suddenly alter the special rules they've given to a race. Especially with it being so close to release date, it's unlikely they're going to change anything on a massive scale.
Secondly, how does that alter how many people are going to be playing a game? While Imperial Guard may have '3000 regiments' signed up in this place you mention, but that's a pittance compared hundreds of thousands of players who will actually participate in the campaign rather than just post on a web forum. Those are the people who are going to make a difference - the ones that want to in the first place.
And what's this talk about organizing things on another forum? Whoo, that's a big no-no around here. While we've laxed the rules about linking to competing sites, we're still not too keen on people recruiting for other places.
Maybe I'm just slow, or much more likely extremely pessimistic, but I really don't understand what you're trying to accomplish here? What 'game plan' do you think you can come up? "Hurray, let's all go out and play games and win!" What kind of game plan can you have beyond that?
I don't know where the hell you got 'altering special rules' from. Never said GW was going to change anything.Originally Posted by CaluinAs I mentioned, I was in GAMES WORKSHOP and the staff there have seen many campaigns. Generally speaking those who are MORE organized with a better gameplan and who have people with lots of experience to help form a solid gameplan and tactics often perform better than those who simply show up to play without a clue. I'm sure some players will put on a decent showing regardless, but for people like myself who are relatively new it's good to be able to ask questions and be given a rough idea of how to improve. Also, from what I understand the entire 'world' for the campaign is divided into different sections, each country has a different region in which they are supposed to be fighting in, and hobby stores or 'leagues' have their own sections as well. So should Nids perform well on my side of the planet it will be less effective as we will only conquer a small section. Should 4 or 5 countries do well, that's a bit more significant. and I'll quotes the GW staff on this "in order to meet the nid objective of recapturing the death leaper strain a good portion of the planet will need to be captured."Originally Posted by CaluinIt's not like here telling people to register at another place. If you look closely I did mention MSN or yahoo messenger first. But should that gameplan fail, I'm not keen on discussin tactics on a forum where anyone, including other army people can view the general discussions. It's not a competing forum i'm looking at making, maybe a temporary one just for the even itself. That's about it. Not like i'm about to steal all your people. I'm not like the guy in the IG section of your site who blatantly linked to the warseer forum to recruit people.Originally Posted by CaluinWhat I'm trying to accomplish is a way for the Nids to put in a good showing. I've never played in a campaign so people who have are a definite must. Their experience would be a huge asset to help people figure out more or less what we are going to be facing. As well as people who play alot of city fight.Originally Posted by Caluin
I do also believe it would possible be easier to 'organize' stuff if there were experienced players who had already done something similar. Such as what the Chaos players did in the campaign involving Cadia. I'm not trying to be the leader, but I am trying to kick start things. Maybe it's because i'm solely a nid player and I don't have the option of joining a larger faction of IG or SM. But i definitely love my nids. I'm not a 'leader' but I want to get it started BEFORE the campaign hits. That was as more information is released there are fewer surprises and it can be discussed rather readily.
And as for the other chap with the space marine comment...
I don't fear space marines. Not in the least. i've sent them running with ripper swarms before. They are not a threat.
If you really want to get organized, what you need to do is get in touch with your local Tyranid players. Some of us don't have a "local" GW store in which to play (the closest one to me is 500 miles away) and so don't really care about the Medusa V campaign. There isn't much point to large-scale organization, but if got in contact with -local- tyranid players in your area to formulate strategies for each battle, you might have a better chance as they could tell you what to expect from various local players / armies. That's what's ment by "organization".
The big 300 person strong IG list is just for the sake of saying "Look at us! We're IG, we're organized!"
I agree to what the Guard are doing is running thier mouths and guessing how much of a chance they've got.
If you want to meet up with other Tyranid players go to your local GW and ask the staff it's their job to help you out. Also try to find out about any local gaming clubs. Universities and colleges often have clubs like this too and they often welcome people who aren't students with them.
Only problem is that i'm in Canada, in Quebec. Most gamers hear (from what I've been told) are relatively new as the shops here have only opened recently. Alot of people pick up the macragge starter kit and only about 25% of them decide to go nids. Most of which are young players who have never touched the game.
As it's new i'm not sure if i'll find any gamer clubs but I'll take a look. Also emailed the guy from the local shop to see if I could put up a flyer or something to recruit people. I don't know if any of you guys will be participating at all in the campaign. But the workshop guy told me that the whole medusa planet was being divided into various sections by state, province, county, clubs sort of deal. I dunno, I'm just looking to try and get myself (as well as others) as much help as possible. I know the death leaper isn't great, but I want the bragging rights :p
