Me and 2 of my friends where playing a 750 pts battle, with 3 players. I was playing against tyrenids and some selfmade army.
The nids where fielding 5 raveners, 1 lictor, 5 warriors and a couple of genestealers.
We where playing combat patrol rules.
I fielded an ethereal with 12 FW honour guard, 1 normal 12 man FW squad, 5 stealth suits and 3 Piranha's with burst.
for some reason, I only lost 7 FW and 2 burst cannons on my Piranha's.
Was my list powerplay on 750 points, or was I just lucky?
pulse weapons tend to be gruesome against tyranids. the s 5 ap 5 really comes in handy there...
Say powerplay if you want, but like kristofer said it's really just the fact that they have a 5+ save. He probably should have upgraded the stealers to 4+.
Ask yourself why in the world would you trust a win loss record? Playing them yourself is the only way to tell.
The true joy in the game is playing down to the last model, no matter the odds.
From what I've seen so far, it seems that the Tau are generally better at smaller battles, particularly under 1500 points.
Just out of curiousity, whats next? Maybe you can make an issue about the fact that GW didn't define the action of 'rolling' a D6 to actually mean dropping it in such a manner as to produce a random result; thus making it perfectly acceptable to just put them down with the face up of your choice?
