Small question about the Gue'vesa, I know it goes to a small audience of people that like them. Are gue'vesa'la still legal under the new rules for a Tau army to field? They were not listed in the new codex (much to my dismay since I was hoping they would get some updating).
However, I was interested in fielding a small squad of them for the purposes of a markerlight and filler points.

The Gue'vesa are still legal. They are a Chapter Approved addition that the Tau can take. The rules for them are still up on the GW site. A lot of people dislike them and prefer to take Kroot. I like them for their ability to take a Markerlight. I don't know if I would take them all the time, but in some situations they could be very useful. An extra markerlight is always nice, and you could also use them as meat shields to protect a Tau unit from assault.
Just out of curiousity, whats next? Maybe you can make an issue about the fact that GW didn't define the action of 'rolling' a D6 to actually mean dropping it in such a manner as to produce a random result; thus making it perfectly acceptable to just put them down with the face up of your choice?
Sometimes they can be good and yes they are still legal. The real use that I always saw for them was to use them for a farsight army for a meat shield since you couldn't have kroot but I haven't gotten the new codex so I don't know any of the changes.

Ask yourself why in the world would you trust a win loss record? Playing them yourself is the only way to tell.

UH oh, i always loved using my Gaurds. I'v never okayed in a tournie but im sure my local comic shop wouldnt care. Those gaurdsmen, shuch valient Troops. I usualy put them with a broadside in small point games, and they run around rappid firing things, like those 5 man man marine squads, or supporting FW, or PF on killing those 10 man marine squads. Usualy ends up to the 10 gaurds killing one model, and the Broadside with Plasmarifles killing two. Them gaurds are great. O, but you should see when they rapid fire.. Not 1, but
2x the anoying light
they are still legal and for fluffy reasons i take a squad of ten as a shield for my broadsides

It's the new trend, Broadsides and Gaurds. Sept mine are totaly not SHields, They are iether majestic And Brave Gaurds, Or Little LIghts to help the broadside see things.. Those guys r great, so many times.. for 60 pts, plus 10 for sergent dude, it's not hard to make their points back, the holy light shines in the direction of the greater good. OO that's a good one.
Well your store (if its GW) is wrong, chapter approved is a totaly legal option and GW would not got to the trouble of producing rules and models if it was not, your local store are not helping GW, the point of Gw is to make profits and if that means using chapter approved rules to make army list which leads to sales (buying the armies) then if I was the regional sales manager for that store I would be kicking that store managers ass, maybe you should mention that to him.her and politley say that next time the regional manager is in store (I know they do make visits) your going to ask him why chapter approved stuff is not allowed and watch his face go pale.Originally Posted by mephistophales
Haha. I know, i've been to plenty of GW's, but our local store isn't one. It's unlikely they'll be illegal at his store, I was just saying it is a possibility.Originally Posted by rikimaru
Frankly I liked the idea of a cheap squad that people tended to ignore because they looked about as dangerous as a kitten compared to the rest of the list, but armed with EMP grenades.
That might be just because the only time I fielded Tau(my friend's models plus some of my guardsmen) in a tourney, I only had one railgun.
