    THE BOARD

Buildings were played as WYSIWYG, so if you can see the model, you can fire. Forests and the ruins (black rectangle to the south) were size 3 area terrain.

    THE MISSION
    Recon Omega.
Infantry didn't have to start on the board. Units could come on the board on the 15" strip of deployment zone up the table sides.

    DEPLOYMENT
Iron Warriors deploy 6 marines on the first and second (top) stories of the tall building, two obliterators behind that building, 6 marines in the ruins, one obliterator behind the ruins, and 8 havocs in the large forest. Tau Empire keep everything in reserve. Tau Empire win the turn roll and choose to go second.

    THE GAME

    Turn 1: Nothing happens.

Iron Warriors Turn 2: Daemon prince and dreadnought walk on the board. Lieutenant deep strikes and scatters.

Tau Empire Turn 2: Commander, fire warriors, piranha, broadsides and hammerhead come on the board. Commander shoots at lieutenant with missile pod and kills him :-o (he then hides). Smart missiles and burst cannon kill 2 CSM in building.

Iron Warriors Turn 3: Pred and Vindicator come on the board. Vindicator moves on from the west and fires at the hammerhead, destroying the railgun. The lascannon in the building fires and misses the devilfish, however an obliterator manages to destroy it (four fire warriors survive). A lascannon in the ruins is able to see a single broadside and kills it.

Tau Empire Turn 3: Commander and bodyguard, both elite crisis, kroot, and the other hammerhead turn up. My shooting destroys the vindicator, the unit of 2 obliterators, and leaves a plasmagunner in the building.

    Rest of Game:
    • The pred kills the piranha and has a couple of goes at a hammerhead.
    • The deamon prince runs out and assaults the fire warriors, hoping to kill them all and consolidate 4" into my commander. They run and the prince dies to a railgun.
    • Lascannons from an oblit and the unit in the ruins take out my commander and bodyguard to the east.
    • An obliterator deep strikes next to my crisis and stealths behind the forest and fails to kill the crisis with meltagun, dying next turn to rapid fired plasma.
    • Kroot lose a shooting match against the havocs.
    • Smart Missiles and crisis suits kill the plasmaguner in the building and leave a lone plasmagunner in the ruins.
    • Dreadnought hides.
    • Railheads sit in Iron Warrior deployment zone, as does an elite crisis.

    THE RESULT
A win to Tau Empire by 821pts.

And that's just with the Kroot.

Hmmmm. Nicely done. We need more threads like these.
There once was a Lord named Vlad,
Who's fighting skillz really were mad.
    He killed and he maimed,
He spilled blood in Khorne's name.
And the fact that he's legal makes me glad
(special thanks to Uriel Zarium for the last line/touching it up)

Nice report, and congrats on the win.
How did you like the piranha? There wasn't much about it in the rep. Just curious, as I'm thinking about incorporating one or two into my list.
    Welcome back, btw.

No we didn't. We both take all comers lists.

The piranha was taken just in case the mission was cleanse or secure and control. It had a go at the vindicator, failed to do anything, and then died. My hammerhead would have been shot instead if it wasn't, so it provided some anti-tank dilution.
