Welcome to Librarium Online!
My first question: Is there a sprue with the Spike Rifle or Web-Shooting weapon the gaunts can take through the Chapter Approved? If not has anyone had any success or even tried to make one themselves? If so how did it turn out, pictures would rock.
Also I just got my hands on 2 carnifex on sprues still and I have a way I want to outfit them for my army but would like the ability to change the weapons if need-be rather than paying another $45us for a slightly different set up. I've asked but as far as I could find, nobody around my gaming community has tried the magnet-fex trick yet. Any advice on this? What magnets to use and where to buy them? I'm in US if that helps anyone with that last part. :w00t:
White Dward 305 (US) details a Tyranid kill team (which is used in a battle report in issue 306) and it includes both a spike rifle and a strangleweb. I believe the former is a modified fleshborer and the latter is pretty much just a devourer.

I'll have to look for it. I'm mainly curious about the carnifex, using magnets to hold the arms on. I have a couple small magnets but I dont think they'll fit. I've read about someone using ball bearings or something and another about magnetic rods but it just confuses me... can anyone explain in detail to me how to do it?
Stuff like these for magnets.
Most people use the disc shaped ones.
Just make sure you put all the either positive or negative inside the carnifex, then all of the opposite on the weapon/armor types.
You small hole (smaller than the magnet) glue the backside of the magnet a very little... wedge the magnet in the hole... (where the arm slot/head or whatever is).. and repeat.
Time consuming.. but worth it in the long run.
I think it would be worthwhile to search the forum. There are lots and lots of threads on the topic of magnetic mounting.
I found one for you.
A lot of people don´t like it if you put out questions that have allready been answered in other threads. Frequently asked questions keep reapearing. Before posting something you should try to search the forum to see if it have allready been discussed.
MedusaV- a world will be eaten! hrrmp
I've read a couple but none of them made any sense to me... I'm more of a visual person, heh. I've never actually seen a model with it done so I was just a little confused and curious.
Edit: But thanks for that post. Thats exactly what I needed. Though I did do a search none were as good as that one.

I have my Fex Magnetized. Personally, i'm against putting one magnet in the arm and one of opposite polarity in the socket. Especially the rare earth magnets. No matter how you place the arm when you have this setup the 2 magnets will always want to lock end to end which makes the fexes arms go all ****eyed if you haven't mounted the magnet in the arms properly. I did however see a fex with 2 magnets of matching polarity in the same socket and then with a ballbearing in the arm itself which is probably a much better option. It should be able to keep the arm on while still allowing poseability. This is more than likely the approach I will try with my next carnifex. I'm also trying to figure out a way that would let me get extended carapace and the ends of the tail be swappable. But that's going to take some creativity. Thought maybe if I glued a thin piece of metal to the bottom of the carapace, Adrenaline sack and tail bitz I could probably find a place to put the magnets where they wouldn't be that visible. But who knows. Bah.Originally Posted by Xanxibar

i dunno about making it so they arent visible, but i just drilled a hole into the tail and the tail weapons and stuck a magnet in there...a small one though. And i did manage to get the extended carapace to become interchangable. i stuck a thin piece of metal onto the actual bit itself and drilled holes to fit small magnets in the underside of the "shoulder" of the interchangable back pieces.
If that makes any sense to you.
