Hi, i'm versing my friends IG in a 1750point game and i need some help. i know he will be running all his tanks(lemen russ,lemen russ demolisher, basilisk, hellhound and chimera with vetereans) and a lot of heavy bolters+auto cannons in fire support squads. he will probably be drop-trooping his troops and 2 sentinals and he also might be using rough riders. and also the mission will be anniliate.
i was thinking of running
Newfraglauncerthing,cyclic blaster, sheild-gen, 2 drones(anti-infantry)
2xfireknife squad(rough riders)
x2 crisis suti squad, (deep striking to kill tanks)
leader with burst+falmer, multi-tracker
other guy with TL fusion blasters, target lock
x5 stealth suits all with tareting array(anti-infantry)
x12 FW, leader with markerlight(support)
x12 FW in Devilfish( trying to FoF
x12 kroot with shaper all with 6+ armour(cannon fodder)
Railhead with burst cannons(anti-tank)
Railhead with burst cannons(anti-tank)
x2 broadsides with sheild-gens(anti_tank)
all up around 1750 roughly
any help would be cool

i recommend you change your crisis team to all hav TL fusions but if you really want to hav the leader with the burst cannon and flamer then equipt him with the target lock instead. flamer is not exactly the best weapon to take out IG, try a missile pod instead it has a higher range and can take out light vehicles also.
Frag may be ok but I think its a waste on a Shas'O, give him fusion/plasma/Shield gen and HW multi, take the drone squad as protection (circular formation, if you need more info on this just ask) and go armour/transport popping, I use the drones (they are a seperate squad) to shoot any passengers that disembark after the Shas hits a vehicle, it often gives a fair few casualtys and sometimes pinning. The second squad though, is bad lose the burst + flamer XV8 suit altogether and just take a twin linked fusion with shield generator, use the points saved elsewhere, you wont miss the burst cannon and flamer trust me. Only deep strike if you really need to, I dont like deep strike for XV8's they are mobile enough as it is.
Stealths take a unit of 6 (use the points saved fom the dumped XV's) give one a fusion (just in case) and use them to infantry / transport hunt, you will get more use out of a full strength squad than the other XV8FW are ok but lose markerlight unless he has target lock its useless, otherwise fine.Originally Posted by TauTitan
Kroot lose the shaper and save, they do not need either, use the points for the shaper to get 3 more Kroot, or if you have enough points get a Krootox. Kroot are not cannon fodder and if you play them that way its a waste, stick them in cover near your FW and use them as fire support and counter assault, or lose the Krootox and infiltrate them, do not just use them as screens. If you can afford it take another Railhead if not take an Ion head, because Broadsides even with shield gens will last about 10 seconds against a good IG general, use the submunniton rounds of the railgun as a priority, dont use the HH as a primary armour hunter leave that to the XV8's, you will get more use out of the subs against IG believe me.
