how do i represent bonded exoskeleton on a carni?
do i have to?
Bonded exoskeleton and the biomorph reinforced chitin overlap somewhat and the description of what they are exactly isn't exact.
It's supposed to be that way to allow people to model and convert in a more original way.
Basically what you need to remember when doing this biomorph is that it's meant to make a Carnifex bigger and harder to kill.
The simplest way to represent it is to make your Carnifex look bigger than average, you don't specifically have to be able to point at part of the model and say thats it's bonded exoskeleton.
If the enemy can see it is more dangerous looking than the average Carnifex they should get the idea.
To make it more mean looking and larger try to stick additional spikes on it or more carapace than usual even for extended carapace.
The larger a Tyranid is the more powerful it's weapons are because it's weapons have grown to be part of it's body. For example a Carnifex fires a Devourer at STR 6 a Tyranid warrior will fire it at STR 4 or 5.
If you want big mean Carnifexes add extra stuff to thier weapons to make them look nastier.
In game terms the bigger guns or multibladed Scything talons won't be stronger than the weapons of another player who hasn't converted them but they will add to the impression of greater power.
Also build up it's base with green stuff so the model is slightly taller than it would normally be. This isn't really biomorphing it but it will make it look a little bit bigger adding to the idea it is more powerful.
If you combine multiple techniques to make your Carnifex more impressive it will all add up and create a monster.
hrmm... all ive done is have my carnifex stomping on a black templar, any other conversions at this point will end up messing with its pose
hrmmm i have a spare spinebanks carapace, if i hooked it up to the carni's chest, painting it to match the exo instead of the carapace, it might look good, cept i wouldnt want people to misinterpret it
Thats what I did and it looks awesome. Got me a free broodlord because of the paintjob and conversion (not to mention the fact that it fit into a base that had its claws ripping through an old rhino I didn't use anymore)Originally Posted by Dark_exCal
just make sure you position it well though or else it looks tacked on instead of naturally being there. a bit of green stuff to mold it in helps.

Well, bonded exoskeleton basically means that the exoskeleton is well, bonded. Try to fill the grooves on the fex's chest, somewhat like the 2nd ed fex and the 1st ed tyrant guards.

I blame everything on Ronnie James Dio.
