Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok i'm thinking of adding a third (And hopefully final) hive tyrant to my force. I want to have a lot of fun converting this model and want it to come out looking great. I'm going to use the new metal model and put it on a flying base. Do you have any suggestions on stopping him from breaking the base? E.g reinforcing the clear stems with green stuff (I dont mind them not being clear) or any other ways of positioning him in the air??
Also i'm looking for a swooping pose (Like this one: http://www.hivefleetmoloch.de/pics/G...ngTyrant06.jpg except my Tyrant is going to be using 2 sets of Tl devourers) And i was wondering what type of wings you reccomend to use.) I do not want to spend to much of this tyrant (£40 maximum... before paints etc. but i am buying the tyrant from www.dwhs.co.uk so i have £21 to play with for Green stuff (I'm probably gonig to buy a cheaper alternative (Miliput) unless Scott Dwhs' price for gs is cheap enough.), things to hold him up, wings, etc.)

maby use a dowel or some metal rod insead of a flying base so its not as weak
It is my sacred duty to save your soul from the Dark Gods of Chaos... and I willsave your soul, even if you die in the process.
I don't no what wings are on the tyrant in the pic but from what i've heard many people use the normal dragon wings or balrogs (lotr)
I couldn't figure out if a CC 'Fex or a Shooting 'Fex is better. So I got both of them!
i used a standard hive tyrant with balrog wings with light moulding to make em look more like part of the carapace i then gave him the rending claw arms with scything talons moulded on (to stop him lookin like scyther) and then moulded a second set of talons to where the balrogs wings have sort of finger clawy things when painted the whole model sold for 210 dollars not bad considerin all up it only cost me 80 to make
"take my love, take my land, take me to where i cannot stand, i don't care i'm still free you can't take the sky from meee" ;- firefly
"i'm gonna grant you your greatest wish i'm gonna show you a world without sin" ;- serentiy
"I am a leaf on the wind, watch how i soar" ;- serenity
I have heard from some people that balrog's wings do not fit on the 4th edition hive tyrant, is this correct?

I used thick brass rod (close to 2mm in thickness) to support mine: http://www.necrotales.com/necroGalle.../HiveTyrant_01
The rod extends extremely deeply into the tyrant's tail/hip area (not quite all the way through, but over halfway). The base is a wooden disk I cut out of masonite with a circular saw; the rod extends all the way down to this wooden disk through a solid piece of cork.
If I had to do it over again, I would put the support into the tyrant's main body and extend the rod through a piece of wood (which would be hidden in the rubble). As it is, the cork is too flexible and the center of balance slightly off, so he slightly shudders when the base is moved -- no danger of him breaking off, but the shudder is annoying.
The key to supporting a heavy model is to use thick rod and make sure it goes deeply into something solid on the base and deeply into the model itself. Hope that helps.
Wings will allways be heavy so you must have a strong anchor to stick them to the Tyrant.
I use cut up metal coat hangers.
An alternative to wings I tried or something Iused in combination with wings is a Bio-booster.
That means a rocket pack. Parts such as barbed strangler gun barrels and anything you think looks like a biological rocket-pack could be used.
