When shoting vehicles, zaap gun rolls 2D6 for strenght plus 2D6 for armour penetratione. So we can get a maximun of 10 +12 = 22 . That is very funny. But, what happen when shooting a Monolite?
Can we use 2D6 + 2D6 ?
Against the Monolith you use unmodified strength and a single D6. If the weapons strength is a variable each time you use it I suppose you would roll 2D6 to determine the guns strenth and then a single D6 for armur penetration.
That sounds fine, the problem is that UNMODIFIED zaap armour penetration is always 2D6 !
Does it make any difference?
I think it may. In fact, no explicit comments are written in the necron codex, as far as I known, about zaap gun.
Zaap gun works in a very specific manner, and for that, if Monolite has to be somehow protected against it, I think the designers would have written it , but hey did not (If I am not wrong)
What do you think?
The rules for Living Metal override all penetration rules save for the Turbo Penetrator round and Ordanace weapons (they get to roll two and pick the highest). Everything else in the game gets S+1D6 for penetration on the Lith. In the case of the Zzap Gun, it is indeed S(2D6)+1D6.
