Welcome to Librarium Online!
It kinda sucks how some of the coolest biomorphs aren't used because they arent great in game. Im thinking about two in particular: lashwhip/bonesword and crushing claws. Both of these biomorphs look totally boss, but are "broken" in the current rules. I dont know if there is really anyway to prove that statement, but look at the nids forum and see how most nid players will advise to not ever take either. So im proposing they be fixed, but in a way that makes them more balanced and doest pump them up too much. here's what I thought up.
for the same points cost, except one rules modification. After rolling for # of attacks roll a second die, you choose either the first roll or (the second roll -2) for # of attacks. This method generates an average of 3.77 attacks, which is slightly better than the 3.5 average of codex claws. I think this enhancement of crushing claws is fair and makes them into a valid option, not an over-powered must-have biomorph. As a side note, (second roll-1) variation yeilds 4.05 average, while (second roll) = 4.47 and (second roll -3) = 3.61.
Whip & Sword:
same points cost, except it gives access to an optional "mastercrafted" upgrade, allowing one reroll/turn on top of the usual powers. Im suggesting 10-15 points for "mastercrafted". The points cost should make the mastercrafted whip/sword a valid option for tyrants.
Any better ideas? any other biomorphs need fixing?
nids dont master craft..they just consume...i dont think they will go...HUmm i think i will master craft this...YES!!...
good idea thou
Uh...I really don't feel that he was suggesting a "better-made" Lash/bonesword deal.
He merely used that as an built-in game reference for the effect he wanted.
And yeah, good ideas. Not sure how much master-crafting generally costs but 10-15 sounds a little expensive, 10 should be fine. You are trying to get people to use it afterall.
Sig by:Knape, The Celestial, and Marlinspike, thanks guys!
Those are interesting ideas but you said many people advise not to take those bio-weapons.
That doesn't mean they are right if you want them use them lash whips in particular is actually very good and the randomness of crushing claws regardless of the math always throws people off.
