    Tank Vs Tank

While the Falcon is a tough little thing with spirit stone and holo field would you really put it up against something like a hammer head or a predator armed to the teeth with lascannons.

Personally I wouldn't, I myself use an USF and havn't fielded a falcon for some time now. I revert to using vypers with ctm and brightlances. But what do some of you other players do when you meet another monster of a tank.

i dont really think that those are fair match ups. a lascannon predator and a railgun hammerhead are designed for heavy vechical hunting while the 'standard' falcon config is for anti infantry and light vechical. to counter those threats im more likly to use my wave serpents. twin linked bright lances all the way. not that i think that a serpent would win in a one on one fire fight againist say a hammerhead (even one with an ion cannon) but things rarly boil down to one on one anyway.

Yeah I'd be using the twin linked lances as well and hoping for the best. I've found the falcon does surprisingly well against many tanks because I tend to run it up a flank and so the enemy tank either has to take pulsars/scatter laser shots in the side armor (I need another starcannon if you can't tell) or expose a side to the rest of the army.

Now for big guns that are huddled in a corner with heavy front armor I used to drop shadow weaver templates on their unprotected rear and assault them with scorps with haywire grenades and an exarc with strength nine. Those don't work any more so I'm pretty thin against heavy vehicles right now. I guess I could give my seer council spears and grenades and toss them in a falcon, but that'd be kind of an act of desperation.

I'd fly my falcon right up to it and drop fire dragons :w00t:

i might stop using dragons. they always seem to refuse to hit anything. not like my spider which are all but guaranteed 9 hits out of ten. thats kinda off topic though...

The problem is that if you faced a tau army or a chaos army these are what you can expect to be facing. Unfair or not it's what will happen. The trade off shots between the vechicals would put the falcon at a disadvantage. So what I'm sayng is would it not be wise to leave the falcon out of a direct confratation. I have doubts in the falcons abilites when it comes to situations like these.

    Whaaaaaa??????!!!!!!!!!!
They don't hit anything? My squad of 5 fire dragons plus the exarch with a pike inside my Falcon tends to average about 3 penetrating hits on 14 armour. That's the primary anti tank force in my army btw.

I can't see how my Falcon has anything to do with that, if I encounter anything with AV13 or 14 I take it out with a Bright lance. My Falcon might take it out from the side though, but only because it is a tank it doesn't mean it has to take out other tanks in some kind of "robot wars" duel.

It is better to just keep out of LOS with your Falcon from those pesky Predators. Then they have to move around and lose a lot of shots.

then i guess your not as good at rolling 1s and 2s as me. and the depressing thing is they are my primary anti tank as well. although on the (very) rare cases when they work with me they are good at making a mess of anything with armour.

In my first encounter with Chaos, I managed to pop a defiler with my falcon

It was sheer luck though, I didn't know it had AV 14 at the time. Oh, and I also learned there that guardians, even with protection from Wraithlords, die quickly to ordnance if you don't have concealing warlocks.

Just my two pennies of wisdom for the day...
