Welcome to Librarium Online!
I am very interested in starting an ork army. I have been ready through the forums and all anyone talks about are speed freaks or the kan barrage(you know the one with the killer kan wall). This is very discouraging. I was wondering what other ways can orks win. I would hate think that there is truly only one or two ways to win with orks.
Badmoons: you can take flashgitz as troop choices which can have 4 big shootas and you can upgrade your nob to have a big shootas that's 5 in a squad. Mount it in a Battlewagon with 5 bolt on big shootas which has regular armament of 3 TL big shootas. Lots A LOT of shooting. Commonly refered to as the Dakka Wagon or the Death Star. My army has 3 because its a Badmoon Klan list.
Orks generally win through a mix of shooting backed by dead ard CC troops such as kans and slugga boys. If winning by combat is not for you than orks are not for you. I play badmoons which is a tremendous amount of ork shooting (still BS 2 though) with the ability to get in there and mix it up when i want to. Whatever you play if your green you should end a game with a good scrap!
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
I dont mind winning by combat. It just nice to hear that bull rushing your opponent isnt my only option.
Yeah, shooty orks can work if you have enough firepower. With orks its numbers that count.
I used to field a cult of speed consisting of mini-death stars - trukks armed with a big shoota and a bolt on big shoota, carrying a trukk mob with a big shoota and one more with the nob.
I completely shot up an army of eldar by driving round and round them, keeping away from their CC troops and wraithlords while hosing them from a distance.
I think that this would work well against any slow moving, close combat focused force.
That is a great idea. Thank you. that is a very exciting method of fighting that requires some precise tactics
