Does a synapse creature count as a synapse creature for itself or does it need one besides itself? In other words, does a Tyrant need to be in range of another synapse at the beginning of the turn in order to not do Instinctive Behavior?
Another question: There seems to be debate about Lictors and Carnifexes falling back after failing IB checks. Does the codex trump to Fearless rule that says "never falls back"?
"We await the return of the gods as Dyannartan waited for Isha. We die for the Eldar as Dyannartan died for the Eldar. Her deeds in the face of The Great Enemy will ne'er be forgotten as long as we draw breath. Her patience and sacrifice are the devotion of the Protected Ones; the Dael-Durien."
the synapse creature does not need another synapse creature near it, it already provides synapse for itself

Synapse doesn't make one auto-pass Target Priority Tests (codex, page 28, the first bullet). However, Monstrous Creatures do auto-pass them (rulebook, page 55).Originally Posted by Loestal
Why do the survivors remain anonymous -- as if cursed -- while the dead are revered? Why do we cling to what we lose while we ignore what we still hold?
Name none of the fallen, for they stood in our place, and stand there still in each moment of our lives.

Yeah, lictors and carnifexes can take the IB test, chances are they will pass with ld 10, but if they fail they don't fall back so it doesn't really matter that much.

I have thought about it just to try it, but...apparently I don't care enough about my rippers. Could you elaborate a little on your thoughts on spine rippers...unless that's going to far off topic.Originally Posted by PoptartsNinja
So do I. Even with the low BS, the amount of attacks plus the twin-linking provides a nice little fire squad. With enhanced senses, in 3 shots, you will hit around 1.666666666 times. For a 12 point guy with 3 wounds thats pretty good. For the same cost as 12 spine gaunts, 5 rippers will get .33333333 more hits per shooting phase, have 3 more wounds, don't need synapse and will have more attacks in a cc that lasts past the charge.
The downside is they will be slower if you aren't shooting, don't have as many attacks on the charge, and can be instant killed.
Anyway, the rippers are a little different. They are mindless. This specifically says they are fearless and they don't obey the rules for IB. Therefore they can't lurk.

And believe it or not, when you see 30 ripper swarms.. people do alot of math in their heads REAL quick on the amounts of dice you will be rolling. and panick pretty quick. I think it's be hysterical to see an army of like 60 ripper swarms all armed with spinefists with let's say a tyrant with warpfield as your HQ. And maybe a fex thrown in. I'm sure people would cry alot. That's alot of wounds, alot of spines and alot of laughter.
